Leon Deborde Succumbs to Illness

Leon Deborde, 75, of 1433 Walnut, member of an early day York mining family, died Tuesday afternoon at St. Peter's hospital following an extended illness.

Mr. Deborde was born Nov. 22, 1883, in Homer, Neb., later moving to York with his parents in 1885. His father, a pioneer mining man of the York area, preceded him in death. His mother died Nov. 23, 1958, at the age of 101.

The younger Mr. Deborde attended schools in York. He worked in Montana and Idaho mines, later ranching between 1940-50 near Troy.

On June 1, 1926, he was married at Grangeville, Idaho to the former Martha Squibb. Mr. Deborde was a member of the American Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, Cabinet, grange of Troy and Promona and state grange.

Surviving besides his widow, Martha, are brothers, William Deborde of Helena, and Earl Deborde of Butte; three sisters, Mary Gross, Helena, Luella Hogan, and Alta Morgan, both of Seattle, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jess and Carol, and two sisters, Annie Jones and Gladys Williams.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Hagler chapel with the Rev. R. D. Merrill of the First Baptist church officiating.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Kenneth Jones, Harold Hogan, Arthur Hogan, and Albert Williams, all of Helena, and Donald Deborde and George Graham, both of Butte.

Burial will be in Forestvale cemetery.
