| From the Independent Record, Tuesday, March 5, 1957: Gladys L. Williams Dies Early This Morning Gladys L. Williams, 75, of 1023 Logan, widow of the late David M. Williams, York merchant, died early this morning at St. John's hospital where she had been a patient since Feb. 28. Mr. Williams was born Dec. 31, 1881, in Nebraska. When she was three years of age, she came to York with her parents, Ella and Albert Deborde. She attended school at York and in 1900, married David M. Williams in Helena. The couple made their home at York for many years where Mr. Williams operated the general store and was postmaster. In 1917, the couple moved to Helena, where Mr. Williams was associated with the Turner grocery store. Mr. Williams died on Feb. 5, 1941, in Helena. Mrs. Williams was a member of the First Christian Church. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. James P. Klein and a son, Albert Williams, both of Helena; three brothers, Leon and William H. Deborde, both of Helena and Earl Deborde of Butte; three sisters, Louella Hogan of Seattle and Mary Gross and Alta Morgan, both of Helena and three grandchildren, Carol Crowley of Augusta, Michigan, and Mary Ellen Klein and Charlotte Larsen, both of Helena and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Hagler chapel with the Rev. Clifford N. Trout of the First Christian church officiating. Burial will be in Forestvale cemetery. Hagler mortuary is in charge of arrangements. OBITUARIES HOME |
