My grandfather was Harold Deborde, born May 24, 1901, Cove, Oregon. His father was John Franklin Deborde born 1871, and his grandfather was Thomas Jefferson Deborde born 1841. Solomon and Mary were his great grandparents. All of this information was passed on to him by Thomas Jefferson Deborde and his father." -- Jason Gregg Solomon (French) and Mary L. Franklin (English and Scotch) DeBorde had three sons. Jack migrated to Montana, Thomas to Oregon, and Bill to Texas. Mary L. [Solomon's wife] and Sarah Jane Franklin [Thomas Jefferson DeBorde's wife] were not related. Thomas Jefferson DeBorde born in Grant County, Wisconsin April 22, 1841 was a Civil War vet, school teacher, carpenter, sheriff of Butler County Nebraska, farmer. Owned old-time saw mill run by water wheel in Cove, Oregon. Was married to Sarah Jane Franklin on the 17 day of June 1865 who was born in Webster County, Iowa in 1842. To this union was born ten children. Tom DeBorde, Jr. was born in Iowa June 3, 1867, was a trader, also constable of Cove, Oregon. On city police force at La Grande, Oregon and Deputy Sheriff of Union County, Oregon. Was married to Donna-Annie Keller. Father of Bert, George, and Ruby DeBorde. Amy Deborde born in Nebraska November 13, 1869 married to Jake DeHess, Jim Fulp, Wid Wright, John Valentine and Lou Bloom. Mother of Charles and Annie DeHess, Desmond Fulp, and Calvin Wright. John Franklin DeBorde born in Linwood Nebraska November 2, 1871 was a farmer, logger, stone mason, was a partner with his father in a sawmill at Cove, Oregon which logged with oxen. Was married to Sempronia Coons. Parents of Harold DeBorde. Abby, born in Nebraska 1873 died when a baby. Sarah A. DeBorde born in Nebraska September 17, 1875, married to Lee Vincent, mother of Edwin Vincent and Hattie (Vincent) Powell. Benjamin DeBorde born in Nebraska December 1877, was a farmer and logger. Married to Bertha Haffer. Parents of Edna (DeBorde) Hartley, Bennie, Bernard, and Darrell DeBorde. Caroline (Doll) DeBorde born in Nebraska January 12, 1880, married to Cal Lusby and Wayne Fisher, mother of Crystal and Carl Lusby. Minnie E. DeBorde born in Oregon July 2, 1882, married to Elbert Coons and Frank Conklin, mother of Earnest, George, Kenneth and Sylvia (Coons) Fulp and Robert Conklin. Della Jane DeBorde born in Oregon January 10, 1885, married to Winford Harris. Christine V. DeBorde born in Oregon April 20, 1888, married to Ben Peal and Frank Musick, mother of Robert Musick.
