| I bought my first show dog in 1970 and started
to breed 29 years ago. My first show dog
was a Chipal. Nita Rowley who was Chipal,
gave me the highest accolade any breeder
ever could, after her passing I found that
she had willed me her prefix, Chipal is among
the oldest and best known in this country.
In 1997 Phyl (Phylben prefix) also passed away and willed me her whole kennel including prefix. In 2000 I ceased to use the Phylben prefix, the accounting for two prefixes was very costly and confusing with the system we have in place (levies etc). So from 2000 mini smooths, mini longs and mini wires all have the Chipal prefix. In the period both of these kennels have run - they have accounted for over 300 champions. Dogs with the Chipal prefix are in almost every pedigree in this country for both standard and mini longs. Just about every mini long in NZ has a Chipal heritage. This website celebrates the wonderful dogs we have now - and is also a mark of respect to the two ladies mentioned above, whose legacy I have inherited and continue to work with. Celebrate Sahara's current success in two continents and the success of other wonderful Dachshunds from Chipal both overseas and inour home.
