Sahara "Au Ch+Am Ch Chipal Desert Sand, bred by Colleen Cornelissen in Victoria has made quite an impact on the America conformation show scene - achieving her American Champion Title in a very small number of shows. Colleen accompanied Sahara on the long journey to America and was there for her first few shows, and were present to see how well she did in her first shows. The first day was a Dachshund specialty show, with Sahara taking Runner Up to Winners Bitch. She then went on to win Winners bitch, Best of Variety and Best of Winners at the three following shows. At this stage she had three majors and twelve points towards her American title. After a few days rest, Sahara then traveled to Ohio to attend The Dachshund Club of Americas, Expo and Mini Roundup, with almost 300 mini's in attendance. Sahara was only entered at the roundup on day two and again took out top honours. She was now an American champion, having to move up to Special classes. At her next three shows, she again took one more Best of Variety and two opposite sex to BOV, both being to top listed dogs. Before Sahara left for America, Ch Chipal Dark Secret (Lucy) had already embarked on her career in the US, taking Best Of Variety at the previous years Mini Roundup. Another wonderful achievement from a Victorian kennel! Colleen celebrates Sahara and Lucy's success.
