Q: Can you do forward slips in the Chinook?
A: It slips pretty well, and you can do them with flaperons down, as they don't extend to the root tube, they won't block air to the rudder. Best to clear an obstuction is slow it to 40-45 MPH over the obsticle, then slip.
If it ever feels funny, or you think you might be in trouble, a blast ot throttle over the tail surfaces will straighten you right out.

Q: Why did you change the throttle?
A: I always wanted a big "airliner type" lever. Not worth the effort, as I think the one supplied by ASAP will work fine. Extensions could be added to it.

Q: Where did you get your seat covers?
A: They are the ones that came with my kit. They are nylon and the front seat has a nice map pocket on the back. I added some extra foam padding, and some extra fiberglass fabric mesh to the front seat to keep it from cracking.

Q: Why didn't you extend the firewall all the way down from root tube to body tube?
A: I probably should have. Guess I didn't think of it.

Q: What is the motor mount made from and what is the angle to the root tube?
A: They are pieces of stuctural aluminum 6061. I used a large piece of 3 inch angle, and drilled it to fit the existing holes in the root tube. Excess was then cut off. Mounts are spread wide to contol engine rocking and torque. There is also an extra small Lord mount on the end of an aluminum tube that runs close to the root tube, and this is used to control tilting under power. Original angle was 12 degrees, and I now have 3 degrees . ( Very difficult to get all the angle out and still use a big prop that won't hit anything.)
Black tube controls tilt and attaches to front engine mount plate.
