CHINCHILLA
COLOR MUTATIONS:
The Third Page
 |
**
Tan
(Beige + Ebony)
Genetically this chin is Beige + Ebony. The fur color
is shiny beige to dark brown (depending upon how many generations
have been bred back to Ebony) on the entire body, including the tummy.
This is the result of the Ebony gene. There is no agouti stripe. Rather,
each hair shaft is a lighter shade of beige or brown at the base,
ending in the darker tip. The eyes are red and the ears are pink. |
Tan and White
This chin is genetically Beige + Ebony + White. They
have white fur with light to dark shades of tan appearing in patches
either on the tips of the white hair shaft or on the entire hair shaft.
The eyes are red, the ears are pink and the paw color will vary depending
upon the amount of Tan present. |

Violet
These chins are always homozygous recessive so are
genetically Violet + Violet. The fur is an even dove grey color over
the head and back with the agouti stripe (dark at the base of the
hair shaft, then white, then dove grey on the tip). The eyes are black,
the ears are grey and the paws and tummy are white. |
*
TOV Violet
Genetically this chin is Violet + Violet + TOV. They
look almost just like a regular Violet except that the dove grey coloring
will be darker and the hairs will lack the agouti stripe. The eye,
ear, and tummy color are the same but the paws will have a dove grey
stripe. |

Solid Violet
(Violet + Ebony)
Genetically this chin is Violet + Violet + Ebony.
This chin has "wraparound" dove grey coloring, meaning the tummy is
not white, but dove grey. The eyes are black and the ears are grey. |

Violet and White
This is the last of the Violet variations and is genetically
Violet + Violet + White. They have white fur with light to dark shades
of violet appearing either in patches or evenly dispersed on the tips
of the white hair shafts. The eyes are black, the ears are grey and
the paws are white. |
