THE NORTH KOREA REPORT: APRIL 22, 2002

LOOKING FOR WEAPONS? HEAD TO THE KORYO HOTEL

Communist North Koreas capital of Pyongyang has a bar on the 44th floor of the Koryo Hotel, which according to the London Daily Telegraph via the Washington Times, is the place to be for terrorists and others looking for North Korean weapons.  The Stalinist regime, while its people starve to death, hosts Iraqis, Somalis, Libyans and other patrons from Middle Eastern and African nations lookings for arms.

NORTH KOREA AGREES TO TALKS ON JAPANESE KIDNAPPINGS
North Korea has agreed to hold talks with Japan on the fate of eleven Japanese citizens who went missing in the North during the 1970s and 1980s.  Japan believes the Stalinist regime kidnapped them in order to train spies in Japanese language and customs.  North Korea, of course, denies this.  Report: BBC

U.S. PACIFIC COMMANDER SAYS BETTER MISSILE DEFENSE NEEDED AGAINST THE NORTH
Admiral Dennis Blair, Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Pacific command, said the U.S. needed a more advance missile system to counter the North Korean missile threat to the U.S. and its Pacific allies.  Blairs comments on North Korea were about halfway into the CNN story.

TALKS ON NORTH-SOUTH RAILWAY JUNKED BY STALINIST REGIME
Remember the talks agreed to by North and South Korea for an all-Korea railroad?  The Stalinist regime basically told the South never mind today (see April 15 report).  BBC reports that the North rejected an offer for talks to discuss resuming work on a rail-link connecting the two countries.

Stop the Nuclear Power Deal:
The United States is building two nuclear power plants in North Korea while the Stalinist regime refuses to let us inspect their nuclear weapons program to verify they have halted it as required in the deal.  Tell the President to end the deal.

Sign the Boycott Petition:
In reaction to the 2008 Olympic Games being awarded to Beijing, the China e-Lobby has begun a petition for an American boycott of those games.

Theres still time to contact the President and tell him not to appoint pro-PRC Doug Paal as de facto ambassador to Taiwan.  See Follow-Up for more on Paal.
