The Weeks Links: Feature and Opinion Pieces on Communist China November 21, 2003 Dragon in the Dark: How and Why Communist China Helps Our Enemies in the War on Terror is now available! My book detailing Communist Chinas history of aiding terrorist states, Saddam Hussein, the Taliban, and al Qaeda can be ordered here. D.J. McGuire Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the next Weeks Links will go out on Wednesday, November 26, the same day as the next Update. Links of the Week Charles R. Smith examines the geopolitical situation in East Asia, the Communist attack on human liberty within the Peoples Republic, and how it has spilled over into the U.S. in his exceptional Newsmax piece. More On Communist China and the United States Ellen Bork, deputy director of the Project for the New American Century, ruefully notes that President Bushs speech to the National Endowment for Democracy was far weaker on Communist China than it was on the Middle East, and calls out the Administration for its kid-gloves treatment of the Peoples Republic. Meanwhile, John Pomfret, Washington Post, examines the effect of Communist Chinas charm offensive on its neighbors, and what its current success in upgrading its image could mean for the United States. Randall Parker, founder of Parapundit and Member since 2003, takes note of France and Germanys willingness to sell weapons to the PRC (scroll down to Update). John Hood, of the John Locke Foundation, pans recent Bush Administration limits on PRC textile imports in National Review Online. Hood ignores both the Communist devaluation of its own currency and the national security issues involving the Communist China. Lev Navrozov, Newsmax, laments the ignorant nationalism of pro-Communist Chinese letter writers who refuse to make a difference between the Chinese people and the criminal Communist conspiracy that enslaves them. On Communist China and East Turkestan Alim Seytoff, of Regents University, has an excellent paper in its Berean Review on the importance of East Turkestan in Communist Chinas rise, and how supporting the Uighur people can lead to the fall of the Peoples Republic. Check out the Communist China and the Terrorist War page. Special Feature: Du Daobin The Epoch Times, who happened to interview yours truly (see 8/22 Weeks Links), lost one of its online columnists, Du Daobin, to the Communist police. As one would expect, they have a special section on his arrest, and what it means for journalists in Communist China (note: the 11/12 Update erroneously labeled Du as an internet activist). On Communist Chinas Future Richard Spencer, London Telegraph, examines the possible future scenarios for Communist China and the rest of the world in this well-written, circumspect piece. On Taiwan Parapundit founder Parker (Member since 2003), examines the dynamics of Taiwans quest for more international recognition, and how it affects U.S.-PRC relations.
