XIA YANGJIN

Although virtually unknown in the West, Xia Yangjin is an extremely popular artist within his native China. Below is a summary of his career and achievements to date.

Biographic Sketch of the Painter

Xia Yangjin, born in the City of Chongqing in 1942, finished his studies in the Sub-School of Central Academy of Fine Art in 1964 and graduated from the Decoration Department of Central Academy of Arts and Crafts in 1969.

He is now taking the following positions: Director of Sichuan Artists' Society; The Deputy President of Water Color Painting Research Association under Sichuan Artists' Society; The Standing Member of the World Buddhist Calligraphy and Painting Association; Vice Senior Editor of Sichuan Pictorial and Professor of Chengdu Hanlin Art Academy.

Mr. Xia's biographic note has been absorbed into the publications of Chinese Art Dictionary, Chinese Modern Artists' Roll and Chinese Modern Eminent Persons in Art Circle.

Many times, his works have been selected to art shows of national level as well as provincial and municipal level, some of which were awarded and adopted by newspapers and periodicals or collected by friends both at home and abroad.
