Chilliwack: History

Out of the ashes of the popular Canadian groups the Classics and the Collectors emerged what would become the genesis of the band Chilliwack. While the lineup has changed over the years, Bill Henderson has remained the motivating force behind the the band from the beginning to today's current line up.

The band began with Bill Henderson (guitar/vocals), Claire Lawrence (sax, guitar, vocals), Glenn Miller (bass, vocals), and Ross Turney (percussion).

The band has put out 12 albums and has had several U.S. and Canadian hits: "Lonesome Mary," "Baby Blue," "California Girl," "Fly at Night," "Communication Breakdown," "I Believe," "My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone)," "Watcha Gonna Do When I'm Gone," and "Lean on Me" to name a few. The last three songs are most familiar to U.S. audiences and come from their "Wanna Be a Star" and "Opus X" albums.

Until recently, very little existed on CD. To the delight of many fans, "Wanna be a Star," "Opus X," and "The Double Album" have been remastered and released.

During the past several years, Bill has been very active producing, performing, and presiding over SOCAN (SOCIETY OF COMPOSERS, AUTHORS AND MUSIC PUBLISHERS OF CANADA) for the past several years.

So why do a Chilliwack site? Bill Henderson and Chilliwack have proven themselves to be extremely creative songwriters and musicians, exploring different genres of music (Rock, Folk, Pop and Funk) and creating 12 wonderful albums packed with catchy songs. The band has been through numerous line-up changes, but Bill has always kept the band's direction focused and the Chilliwack name alive.
