Life is filled with problems. We have to make a living, we raise families, we go through sickness, accidents, boredom, quarrels, suffering, excitement, recreation and pleasure as well. There is just so much to occupy our time and energies. There seems to be so little time left over to spend with God maintaining a good spiritual walk with the Lord. So many things that I want to do and so little time to do what God wants me to do. Its easy to get tangled up in our natural lives and forget about our spiritual lives.
The Children of Israel got into all kinds of trouble as they traveled on their journey to the promised land and they forgot to keep their eyes on God who was leading them. They complained and grumbled and didn't trust in God the way they should. Because of all this they ended up wandering in the wilderness for 40 years. It was a difficult time but God had purpose in it and it made them a much stronger nation who learned to trust in God always.
Oops! Its A Flat Tire
Just as we must eat and drink, rest and exercise to live healthy lives in the natural world, so we must do the same in our spiritual lives. We need to feed on God's Word, spend time with God in prayer, share our faith and serve God and trust in Him in every circumstance. When we don't make time to do those things the things of the world will take over.
In the parable of the sower Jesus spoke about seed that grew up and got choked by all the thorns and weeds. He said that was just like Christians who get tied up with the cares and worries and pleasures of this life and their Christian lives are choked out and they have no time for God.

I like to eat. But sometimes I forget that I need to eat spiritual food too. I need to feed on God's Word, the Bible, every day.
