<< Lesson 1 A 6   >>
Just think:  God was patient for 120 years while Noah built the ark to save his family and to give opportunity for Noah to preach to the people. What would have happened if God was in a hurry and the flood came in only 115 years.
You become mature in Christ through spiritual growth just as you become mature naturally through natural growth.  It will take place in God's time.  Impatience to get there quickly will get you into all kinds of problems as we will see happened to the Children of Israel.
God is doing a mighty work in your heart and it is a long process to bring you to maturity in Christ.  There needs to be tough times to strengthen and build you up.  Be patient, He will never leave you or forsake you.
It's A Long Journey
Just as the puff ball and the giant redwood become what they are by a process of growth, so we become what God wants us to be through the process of spiritual growth.  The difference between the puff ball and the redwood is mainly just a matter of time.  What you become for God has a great deal to do with how much time God spends working in you.
Be patient therefore brethren until the coming of the Lord...
James 5:7
I found this puff ball out in the woods.  It grew this big in just a few days.  But it took several hundred years to grow these giant redwoods.
One of the most difficult things for a Christian to do is be patient and wait for God to work.  We are always in such a hurry because we want everything "right now".
If you want to count for Christ and be His disciple then dig in for the long haul.
This is the end of the first section in lesson 1.  Do you understand how God teaches us through pictures?  Lets go on to lesson 1 B and discover how comparing the pictures gives understanding
