Our Director
Alexandra
Martin, the founder and director of Children and Art is an Artist and
an Art and Museum Educator, who has been working in the field for ten
years.
A native New Yorker and Upper Westsider, she attended the University of
Buffalo, New York School of Interior Design, and Marymount Manhattan College
from which she has a degree in Studio Art and Art History, and a minor
in Art Education. She is now working towards a Master's Degree in Childhood Education
She is a certified New York City Board of Education teacher and has worked
in New York art galleries and museums for seven years holding both curatorial
and educator positions.
Currently she works in the Education Department at the Guggenheim Museum
as an Art Educator. She has designed and run exhibit openings, tours,
and art workshops for children of all ages. Earlier experience includes
work as an art teacher and counselor at summer camps in New York
and at the Bradford Children’s Center in Yorkshire, England.
She started Children and Art to provide children with after-school art
classes that are nurturing, enriching and fun.
