I have put alot of thought into this area of the site. I am not going to place alot of my personal ethics stuff here. Anything that is mine, will be labeled as such. All others, will be posted with the author and source where possible. If that information is not known, or available, it will be stated so.
These links are to copies of the Rede that I have found. The Wiccan Rede has been included here, because of what it is by definition... "Wise Council". Based on this theory, I figured more than one take on the picture may not be a bad idea, and it fits well in ethics. If you have a copy that I have not included here, please submit it to me.
It is not only a matter of a hobby, but also history showing over time what was more thought important when it was passed on to the student over time. Each version, has a slightly different bit of lore passed with it, and many do not stop to consider the lines for what they are; a means of passing knowledge. Though I don't claim to know all of it associated with them, I do know some of the wisdom associated with them beyond the mere words on the page, and believe them to be a very important document.
It is my opinion, that in many cases, the honor and ethics that were once so big a part of life, are now gone. As a teacher, I focus strongly on them, and thus try to provide a variety of sources for each person to build their own code of honor or ethics from. Though there are some people out there who do not require the reminder, all of us forget at times, such a minor thing can make a large difference.
These words, though not necessarily spoken by a God or Goddess, are passed on to us to consider, and are not any less wise. There are a couple variations on these, but these are pretty much all the same. I am only going to post the separate sections of the Charges here, as variation is mostly in the form of modernizing the language only.
Without rules, society could not exist. I am not posting my personal stuff here, but those that I have found to be decent examples of things to live by, or that have been passed onto me by functional groups to published as an example for others to build upon. If it is from another group, I will state the tradition name and type, and contributor if they wish to be identified. If they do not want that information to be released I will note it as a generic type and place "withheld at request" in the page.
