I am Pyros, and this is my story. I am a 25 year male, Minnesota native. I have been on the move for most of my life, and have lived in a few different states, and visited one other country. Being on the move all the time, introduced me to many different beliefs, and religions along the way. The most notable of these, were Witchcraft and Wicca (There is a difference).
I started seriously learning about the Old Ways, about 11 years ago, and have been changed forever since. I have practiced or learned a little about a few different forms of religion, but none have granted me the peace or happiness that my current choice of Witchcraft has.
When I first started on the Pagan path, like many, I was mistaken in that what I was learning was not real and just some fad. Like many have done when given power, I abused the gift. I was strong headed, and not ready for the gifts I was given. I had to learn through my misdeeds to respect that which is given to us by the God and Goddess.
Through my trial and errors, I did, however, learn much. I had a new found respect for my experiences and pursued Witchcraft and Wicca with renewed vigor. Learning along the way what it really means to be a "Witch", and the gifts and responsibilities that come along with it.
I am a Elder and Teaching member of the Wiccan Coven "Circle Of The New Eclipse", and am in the process of forming my own tradition, yet unnamed, I also have some very basic knowledge of a couple other traditions as well.
I am a intuitive follower of the cat Goddesses Bast and her counterpart Sekhmet. These are old Goddesses whose prime was reached in the 17th Dynasty of Ancient Egypt (about 4000 years ago). Although much of their worship has since died out, there are a few of us left that choose or are chosen to follow the old Deities. I have been lucky enough to have been chosen by this very wise and loving Goddess, and She has been kind enough to teach me some of the Old Ways.
Due to my patron Goddesses, I am what would be considered a "Eclectic Egyptian Matriarchal Grey Witch". I use both sides of the arts, though avoid the negative aspects when ever possible. I believe in accepting and utilizing both the "Good" and "Darker" aspects of the human nature, and in balance. The rest of the self-description is explained as follows: Eclectic, because I follow no set tradition; Egyptian, because I follow a deity out of Egyptian Mythology; and Matriarchal, because I pay more attention to, and focus upon the female aspects, rather than the normal equal duality that is common. I however have nothing but love and respect for those who are true to the Old Ways, and follow the more pure sides of the arts.
