There are no official skyscrapers (buildings over 500ft / 150 metres) in any UK city outside of London. There is the Birmingham BT tower, but that does not classify, as it does not have regular floors - only floors at the top and the bottom.
Manchester's tallest building (below left) is the CIS tower, which reaches to a height of 118 metres, with 25 floors, and was completed in 1962, having been started in 1959.
Birmingham's tallest (not including the BT tower, which is 500 feet) is the Alpha tower, which is 100 metres tall Birmingham also has the 100 metre Joseph Chamberlain clock tower, though that is not strictly a building either. |

Liverpool's tallest building is the Anglican cathedral, followed by the Royal Liver building (arguably Europe's first skyscraper.)
The Beetham tower, currently under construction, will be 90 metres tall, equalling the height of the Liver building. It is due to be internally complete in 2004. |
