| Manchester has the north of England's largest urban area, with 2.5 million people (Greater Manchester). The city is cosmopolitan and has seen major regeneration in recent years. In 2002, the city held the Commonwealth games, which proved succesful for the city's profile internationally. Manchester has one of the world's richest and mostfamous football teams (Manchester united) and 4 universities. The recently approved Beetham tower, set to commence in February of 2004, will add a new dimension of height to Manchester's skyline. |
