Greetings and Welcome.  Boy, what  a summer this has been! Nice weather, nice riding.  I hope that everyone has had as much fun as I have.  Since June I have personally logged 4000+ miles on my Chief.  And with no major problems.  Knock on wood!  I know of a few of our riding buddies who have logged more.  Notably Rob and Carol of Harrisburg and Ocean Pines.  Between their homes in Ocean Pines and Harrisburg, Rob and Carol spend at least 5 hours on the road each way. And they do this at least 2 times per month!  Sometimes 3!!!  When they make it home these extreme riders dont sit around and rest, No, Nothey organize and participate in rides wherever they are.  Rob and Carol have traveled this year to Laconia N.H., Skyline Drive, Virginia and everywhere in between.  No garage Queens here.  We applaud Rob and Carol for their dedication and desire to keep it In the Wind, and for their efforts and dedication in organizing and promoting the Iron Nation Riders, without which we all would have never met.  Thanks Guys!!
Also in the running for our Iron Butt award would be Eddie Jory of Greenwood De.  The inimitable Mr. Jory, Fast Eddie, Romeo,..is it the mileage or that 98cu in. Chief thats burning up all those tires?  The Jury(pun) is still out on this one..
Earlier this month (this being Sept, 02), we attended a benefit for Bill Hoover.  Bill is the head mechanic at Dover Indian.  Known nationwide for his knowledge and abilities with V-Twin type engines of all vintages.  Bill suffered a series of heart attacks and thank the Great Spirit survived and is doing well.  So well in fact, that Bill has returned to work..(more on his work later).
The benefit took place at Mickeys in Henderson MD.  Mickeys is a well known biker-bar of sometimes mas reputation.  But on this day everything was cool..The turnout was good and the food was good too.  One of the better food spreads that I have seen in recent years..from barbeque chicken to roasted hog, fried fish, salads of all kinds, cakesyou name it, it was there.
Our group donated money which was MATCHED by Wilmington/Dover Indian.  These funds were turned into gift certificates and were used at the benefit in raffles and auctions.  Also donating to our group was Dover Bowl who gave gift certificates to the auction.
The event was attended by Rob and Carol of Harrisburg Pa., Ed and Trudy Vass of Smyrna De., Frank and Joey Gonzalez of Millington, Md., New York Tony of Dover, De, Alan Campbell and Bonnie from Rehoboth.
Our group and Bill Hoover would like to thank all those who helped  with this benefit.  Thanks to Steve Drake of Wilmington/Dover Indian, Dover Bowl and all those who gave.
Your Karma will benefit from this.  Thanks again.
WHAT IS GOING ON IN DOVER????????
Recently, Wilmington/Dover Indian decided to can the majority of their service department!!!!! Bill Hoover was in the hospital with his problems when all this happened.  Kenny Montgomery has moved to Seaford HD, JC went to the Wilmington store as a wrench and I believe has since moved on.
The word from management of Wilm/Dover Indian is that:  Bikes needing major repair will be trailered from Dover to Wilmington for the work.  And then trailered back to Dover for delivery when complete.??????????? Minor stuff, whatever that is, will be done at the Dover shop.  At present, 61 yo Bill Hoover is the only wrench in the shop, we have been told that other wrenchs will be rotated in and out of the shop.  I dont know how this will work out.  I know of some riders who are looking for alternate repair facilities in this area for their bikes.  I  guess I will find out for myself when my ride goes in for warranty work in November.  Good luck with this guys, I hope the master plan works out for ya.
Our friends at Seaford Harley Davidson, co-sponsor of this years DelMarVa Bike Week, have added a much larger showroom and revamped their facility.  Their grand opening party was this summer..Good Luck Seaford HD.
Dawn Johnson starts her motorcycle riding course this weekend!!!!!!!  I guess Buzz is gonna have to share that Scout!!  Good luck Dawn.9/20/02Frank..
This just in to our news desk........Kenny Montgomery is not working at Seaford HD, he is driving a truck for job....and, JC is gone from the Wilmington store...We wish them both good luck and thanks for their fine service to us.............
