I'm a beginner to MIDI. I have a Yamaha MIDI keyboard (PSR 270). I have connected this to my home computer to record notes for some simple songs. Most samples have only the melody track.
To get the music notes, use a MIDI sequencer or a MIDI notation program [can be downloaded from the MIDI Shareware]
To listen to the song, use the Windows Media Player [or equivalent]
