The Golden Temple of Jehol: Is a replica of the celebrated Chinese Lama Temple and is a gift to the Chicago World's Fair of Vincent Bendix. The Golden Pavilion, seat of worship of the Manchu Emperors and within which are images of Buddha, incense burners and prayer wheels, was copied faithfully by North Chinese architects and artisans, shipped in 28,000 pieces to Chicago & put together by like parts of some huge Chinese puzzle. |
