2005 CAP Scholarship Winners

The Chicago Alumnae Panhellenic awarded two non-restrictive $500 scholarships for the 2005-2006 academic year to outstanding sorority women. The scholarships were awarded at the 2nd Annual High Tea and Silent Auction on May 15, 2005.

Lauren BonazziLauren Bonazzi. A junior at University of Illinois, Chicago in the College of Nursing, member of Alpha Sigma Tau. Lauren has demonstrated tremendous leadership on campus, not only in her chapter and UIC’s panhellenic, but in the classroom and community. This past year alone, in addition to holding UIC’s Panhellenic President position and organizing Panhellenic Recruitment for UIC, she was the Housing Director and served on the AST Recruitment Committee within her chapter. She has also served as a Panhellenic Recruitment Counselor for two years. In the classroom Lauren has excelled by receiving the Dean’s list, and the honor of the Who’s Who Among America’s University Students. Her recommender's could not say enough about Lauren’s commitment to her chapter, UIC’s panhellenic, and her community, all the while keeping up with her studies. Her future goals are to become a Registered Nurse leading to a nurse-midwife, and work at an OB clinic in Chicago. Lauren’s commitment on campus, in the community, and the classroom is an outstanding representation of what the panhellenic spirit embraces.
Danae RoumisDanae Roumis. A freshman at the University of Chicago, majoring in Anthropology and Linguistics, member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Our executive board and chair members were impressed by Danae’s outstanding commitment to her chapter, community, campus, as well as in the classroom, and she is only a Freshman. Since her induction this past November, Danae has dived into her chapter’s activities. She is currently the editor of her chapter, as well as holding positions on the Public Relations Focus Group, Community Service Committee and the Sing Committee. In addition to her leadership in her chapter she is also a member of the University of Chicago’s Women’s Varsity Soccer team and the Varsity Track and Field team. Not only is she a leader in her chapter and on the field, her excellence in the classroom shines through. She is fluent in Greek, French and Latin. Upon completion of her Bachelor's’s Degree, she hopes to continue to pursue her education to the Doctorate level, and one day work for the Peace Corp, with the ultimate goal of becoming a traveling journalist for National Geographic. Danae’s outstanding leadership in just a short time has proven her potential to carry on the panhellenic spirit.
