Character Ages

Master Roshi was 307 years old when Goku was born. He began to go perverted at 123 years old, when he began buying pornographic magazines 0_0.

Granpa Gohan was 79 years old when he found Goku in the forest

Krillin is 1 year older than Goku

Yamcha and Tenshinhan are 4 years older than Goku

Bulma was 16 years old when she first met Goku

Goku told Bulma that he was 14 years old when they first met. In the first Tenkaichi Budoukai in DB, however, he confesses that he was really 12 years old and he didn't know how to count before.

Trunks was 6 years old at the beginning of the Boo Saga

Goten is 1 year younger than Trunks

Pan was 5 years old when DBZ ended. At the beginning of DBGT, she was 14.

Bra was 4 years old when DBZ ended

The first Tenkaichi Budoukai was held 87 years before Goku was born on Planet Vegeta

Gohan was 4 when he was first introduced (not 5 and a half like what the American dubbed version of DBZ said). He trained under Piccolo for one year, then went to Planet Namek for another year. By the time Future Trunks arrived, Gohan was 7. In the Cell Series, Gohan trained for 3 years in preparation for the androids. At 10, he trained for another year in the Room of Spirit and Time on Sky Palace. At 11, Gohan killed Cell (pretty enormous accomplishment for a fifth grader ^_^). At 16, Gohan entered Orange Star HS.

Dende was 5 years old when he first appeared

Kamisama was over 900 years old when he fused with Piccolo

Characteristics

When Mirai Trunks first appears, Vegeta doubts that he is a Saiyajin because he has purple hair. He said that most Saiyajin have black hair.

In one ep, Vegeta says that a pure-breed Saiyajin is born with a hair style which remains like that for the rest of his life. He says that it cannot be changed.

Goku and Vegeta are full-bred Saiyajin and born with tails. Gohan is a half-bred Saiyajin (born from Goku, a Saiyajin, and Chi-Chi, a human), but was also born with a tail.

Namekians are classified into 2 groups - healers and warriors. Healers can heal anyone, but cannot fight, whereas warriors can only fight and cannot heal. (ex - Dende is a healer (and DB creator) while Piccolo is a warrior)

Only Nameks belonging to the Dragon Families can create Dragon Balls (members of this family include the Eldest Namek, Kamisama, and Dende).

The Namek race is based on snails and slugs. This explains why Namekians can regenerate lost limbs.

Fusion

The guardian of the Earth Piccolo (the original one) split into 2 forms - Kamisama (pure good) and Piccolo Daimao (pure evil) - the Chinese character on Kami's chest means god while that on Daimao's chest means demon. Daimao had a son named Piccolo, who later fused permanently with Kamisama in the Android Saga. This was what he meant when he said "I am neither Kami nor Piccolo, just a Namek-sei-jin who had long forgotten his name" after fusing with Kami.

Daimao and Kami were originally one. If one died, both died. Daimao had given birth to Piccolo at the time he was about to die, so in essence, Piccolo was Daimao. This is why Kami didn't die when Goku killed Daimao, as Piccolo made up for the link.

Piccolo permanently fuses with Nail in the Freeza Saga.

The fusion technique used by Goten and Trunks to form Gotenks is only temporary and can only last for 30 minutes. The same goes for Vegeta and Goku's fusion into Gogeta in Movie 12.

The fusion technique used by Goku and Vegeta to form Vegetto is called Potarra fusion and is permanent, but the effects were nullified when he was absorbed into Boo's body.

Fat Boo separated into 2 Boos, one being himself and the other being an evil, thin version of Boo, after getting angry over the shooting of his dog Bee and later of Satan. The Evil Boo turns the much weaker Fat Boo into a gumball and swallows it, creating a new version called Super Boo (Form 1). Super Boo 1 later absorbs Gotenks and Piccolo, becoming Super Boo 2. He manages to absorb the careless Mystic Gohan and morphs into Super Boo 3. Super Boo 4 is formed after the absorption of Vegetto. When Goku and Vegeta leave Boo's body with Fat Boo, Piccolo, Trunks, Goten, and Gohan, Boo is given a massive amount of ki energy which enables him to transform back into the most powerful original Kid Boo. When Kid Boo is killed, he is wished back and reincarnated as Uboo, a being completely cleansed of evil. (In DBGT, Uboo fuses with Fat Boo to become even stronger.)

Origins and Development

Grandpa Gohan found baby Goku on Mount Paozu.

Goku lived on this mountain until he met Bulma, after which he moved from place to place to fight villains in DB. He returns to Mount Paozu and has a child with Chi-Chi, living there before the arrival of Raditz. Even after he is wished back to life, Goku is rarely seen near his home. However, he does occasionally return to his family home, where he, Chi-Chi, Gohan, and later, Goten, live. Goku also shows up sometimes on Kamesennin's island and Bulma's Capsule Corp building.

At first, Chi-Chi wanted to name Gohan "Einstein."

Gohan travels daily to Orange Star HS (via Bukujitsu aka flying or on the Nimbus cloud). Although the distance between the school and his home on Mount Paozu amounts to several miles, Chi-Chi and Goten do not move to Satan City to alleviate Gohan's travel time.

Goku and Chi-Chi never went to work. They were supported financially by money won from the Tenkaichi Budoukais 0_0 (10 million zenni for the winner of the first championship).

Vegeta grew up as a nomad and servant of Freeza, eradicating entire races on various planets with his comrades Raditz and Nappa so they could be sold to other clients or for other reasons.

Bulma's father Dr Briefs was the head of Capsule Corporation. This explains why Bulma is so rich and why she possesses and understands how to operate such advanced technology.

Trunks grew up in Capsule Corp and became its president as a young adult in DBGT. However, his scientific knowledge is only average, due to his greater interest in fighting.

The Trunks in the current DBZ time period never develops a power level nearly as high as Mirai Trunks, probably due to the different environments in which each one grew up. Chibi Trunks grew up with family support in a world that was pretty much intact as he grew up. Mirai Trunks, however, developed in the absence of his father and the companionship of all the Z Senshi other than Gohan. The fact that the androids in his future were destroying entire cities and randomly killing humans created an urgent situation and simply required that Trunks become the strongest possible to wipe out the two androids.

Nameks live on nothing except water. They do not need to eat. (which makes me wonder why the Eldest Namek is so much larger and fatter than the other ones ... maybe he's bloated with water? -_<

Nameks reproduce asexually, meaning that they do not require a "partner" o_o and are unisex. This is shown when Daimao spits an egg (with Piccolo inside) out of his mouth.

The androids are not entirely robotic, but were built with a basis on some (most likely unfortunate and captured) humans. As a cyborg, Android 18 was able to give birth to a daughter named Marron. This characteristic is untrue of 16, who is entirely robotic (as Nonperfect Cell could not absorb his energy even when his tail was inserted deeply into 16's neck). (However, I don't know too much about the androids in DB so I am untrue of whether this quality applies to them.)

Origins of the Dragon Ball Series

Dragonball was derived from the Chinese story Journey to the West

Here's a bit of a culture lesson heh... who said that DBZ was not educational and enriching? ^_^

Goku was derived from the Monkey King himself
Goku's bow was also the weapon that the Monkey King used
Goku's flying nimbus was a source of transportation for the Monkey King as well
Oolong was created from the pig disciple
Yamcha was molded from the former bandit disciple
Krillin was formed from the Tang monk Tong Jun
Tenshinhan was made up from the 3-eyed god
Ox-King was based on the Ox-King/Demon
The Ox-King's fire mountain was the same home as the Ox King in the story
The fan that Master Roshi claimed to have spilled juice on was also derived from the Chinese legend
Enma Daiou's (King Yuma) special fruit (only available in Hell) was a fruit of the heavens in the Chinese folktale

Some Other Info

Androids do not have ki. That's why they cannot run out of energy whereas the Z Fighters ran out of energy as they fought with the Androids (The Z Senshi therefore had to be at least 1 fighting level above them to win). (However, why is it that Android 17 breathes heavily obviously from exhaustion while fighting Piccolo in ep 148? Maybe because no machine is 100% efficient?... here's where physics knowledge comes in 0_0. Also, Vegeta comments on Piccolo's power level right after Nonperfect Cell escapes from Pepper Town, saying that it rivals that of the Jinjoningen. If the androids didn't even have ki, how could be possibly make the comparison?)

When Perfect Cell, he regenerated from a single surviving brain cell.

As long as Piccolo's head is intact, he regenerate any lost body parts. This is why he was able to survive although Trunks knocked down the frozen statue of Piccolo before it turned back into living tissue etc.

In the Boo Series, Gohan trained to become Mystic Gohan, a stage intermediate between SSJ2 and SSJ3. Hence, Gohan does not power up to SSJ2 (his max SSJ level) to fight Super Boo.

Planet Vegeta is 363115496481 light years away from Earth (that means a lot to me ^_^).

Inconsistencies in the Series section coming soon...
