My Fanart

I have watched Sailormoon for quite a long time and I was always fascinated with the art of anime...the characters were so beautifully drawn. The thought later occurred to me that perhaps I could draw the characters as well. I always loved to draw ever since I was little and was never really that bad at it so I thought Why not give it a try? And so I did. The first drawings I ever did were drawn from TV. I would sit on my couch, pause the video cassette (since I had taped every episode), and start sketching away with my pencil and an artist's sketch-pad. My first drawings, I admit, were not the greatest but this didn't stop me. I was even more determined and tried harder to draw much more accurately. Each time I would draw something it became better and also came with more ease. Within the first day alone and from one episode, I had already sketched 11 pictures. I started to make drawing from TV a habit and everyday I would go through the same routine. Pretty soon I had learned about manga. I thought Takeuchi Naoko's artwork was really beautiful so again I tried to draw but this time in a manga-style rather than the usual anime-style I was used to. It took some getting used to but I finally started to see some really nice results and continued with this hobby. And then there was color...my worst enemy. I hated coloring. Seriously, if there was one part of drawing I disliked it was coloring them afterwards which is why, for most of my work, I did not color them. I left them in plain black and white. Not only was it easier but possibly more challenging then just adding color...I learned shading skills to enhance my work rather than coloring them. However, the pictures I did in color came out very nice but sometimes I did regret it when I realized that I missed an area or colored an area wrong. Colored pencils were what I used since markers and crayons are messy. Computer coloring was out of the question since I had no scanner yet. But I was thoroughly satisfied with my black and white sketches. Soon, drawing from Sailormoon and the manga wasn't enough. I wanted to be a bit more creative than just drawing something that someone else already did. So I started drawing other characters or I used ideas from Sailormoon and applied them to my characters, which would bare a resemblance to a character from Sailormoon but also have my own creative touch. Sometimes the characters I drew were completely inspired by a character from Sailormoon but I would change things to fit what I thought was better for my drawing. Anyway, long, long, long, long, long story short, I came up with these sketches and I have posted them here for all to see. I would also like to post art from other fan artists but unfortunately I have none yet, so send submissions my way by email. All I ask is that the picture not be over 100K (you know with the limited space free web servers give you) and that they are either JPEG or GIF files. No BMP's, please, they are just too large in file size. So here are my pictures, sorry, no thumbnails but you know how I feel about those if you have visited my image gallery and read my explanation. Enjoy! ^_^
