This is where I will make tribute to the sound track of my soul! There are some DJ's and other Music Makers in this world that I think deserve recognition for their work, so I created this shrine. Some of these people I have seen in person, some I would LOVE to. Please, check it all out ;)

~ROBERT MILES~

Born Roberto Concina in Switzerland, he moved with his family to Italy at the age of 9. Roberto had a passion for music, a passion that later took him through the radio stations and underground clubs of Venice. He fell in love with electronic music and went on to help create "Dream Music", a soft, melodic, trance music. This was to be spun on Saturday nights in retaliation to the mothers that were storming Rome to close the dance clubs of Italy rediculously early due to the staggering numbers of young men dying in auto accidents on their way home from the discos late at night. This music was completely different than anything else, using traditional musical instruments, such as Piano and Strings, paired with electronic sounds. Robert's debut album, Dreamland (released in 1996) is, in my opinion, the most relaxing cd a person could possibly own. "Children", off of this first album was the song to break through to the world, breaking into the underground dance clubs first. "Fable", from the same album, was used in the movie Ever After and features the hypnotic voice of Fiorella Quinn, a regular, every day school teacher. "One and One", also from the debut album, is quite possibly one of the most beautiful yet haunting modern marvels of music that "features the breathy diva-esque musings of Maria Bayler." Robert Miles has said of Dreamland, "I was trying to make people relax without forcing them to stand still." It certainly accomplishes this, as this cd makes you want to lay back and close your eyes, yet dance and move all at the same time. Miles has followed up with 23AM, released world wide in November 1998, and his newest release, Organik. The latter of the two was released in 2001 and produced in Ibiza with the help of a twenty-five piece orchestra playing music he composed himself.

Dreamland is one of my most prized posessions. I consider it to be one of my two most favorite cd's ever, as it's perfectly soothing for almost any occasion. I would highly recommend anyone to get their hands on a copy of it. If you would like to check into the music of Robert Miles further, please look into:

~DARUDE~

Waaaay back in September of 2001 we were fortunate enough to hear the musical stylings of Darude. I have never been so impressed with anyone famous in my life. Check out the article Here, where you'll find the low down.

~DJ IRENE~

I am completely AMAZED at the lack of information I've been able to find on the web concerning DJ Irene. She spins on a regular basis in the Los Angeles area, but we were lucky enough to catch her at a live local venue party back in August of 2001 called The Force. I was ALL ABOUT HER!!! It appears, that not only is she SEXAY as hell, but she's also quite a hell of a DJ as well. We were floored at the fact that she spun Ratty's "Sunrise" for us!! I bought this cd around Christmas time, but ended up givin it to G for her Birthday as I KNEW she MUST have it! I, personally, thought this cd ROCKED!!! I was impressed with the fact that she started out at a bit of a hardcore pace, moved it down to trance, and back up to a jammin party! I like a variety of styles! When asked about being a DJ, Irene replied "I like everything. People are actually my favorite, so I play for the people. Whatever their energy is, I vibe off that and then they vibe off my energy. Maybe that's why I'm so energetic!" I'm all about me some DJ Irene, and wish I could offer up more biographical information, but I'm just simply not finding it. So, here are a few links that I have found. Check them out!

~ROLLERGIRL aka NICCI JUICE~

This is an Uber young lady from Germany that calls herself Rollergirl. This is not to be confused with the Porn Star, this is Nicci Juice! Isn't she nice? As a child she had a love for both rollerskaing and singing wich produced the FEEEEBulous rolling femme we know and love. Her music really is great because it combines good, electronic, techno with sexy diva song. She really is a popular little thing and travels the world, although we don't hear nearly enough of her here in the States. On her official website it was said of her busy schedule "In her freetime she the Hamburger from choise loves to walk with her doggies along the beach to let the wind blow on her nose." Hmmm...we're missing something in the translation, no? ROF!! Her music really is fabulous and if you'd like to see more why not wander by:

~DJ POLYWOG~

This is another Helacious Lady we had the pleasure of hearing at a very intimate venue party (there were only about 50 of us there total as someone bunked the infoline!). It was agreed by all that we enjoyed the T-total hell out of her and her music. She spun a WIDE variety of music, pulling in songs from Nirvana, the Beatles, The Doors, The Police, Bob Marley and all kinds of other sources! She truly played something for everybody!

DJ Polywog hails from San Francisco and is quite a personality on the music scene there. She has appeared in the movie Groove as herself, where she played quite an interesting set. She was also the tour DJ for Jane's Addiction and Lollapalooza in 1997 and has been the opening act for such popular headliners as Lee Scratch Perry, Tricky, Spearhead, Primus, Devo and Beck. She is also a member of an All Female troupe of DJ's known as Sister based out of the Bay Area. DJ Polywog is a strong supporter for female DJ's in electronic music and feels that there aren't nearly enough women out there getting credit for the music they're making and that boobies DON'T make the DJ! (as told to me by Polywog in the Ladies Room of the venue party!! LOL!). She's quite an interesting cookie! ;)

Here we are at the Party with Polywog herself! It's me down front, Cookie on the left, Chibi Bowels behind, and Polywog is the one with the fabulously funky hair!

~ATB~

ATB, also known as Andre Tanneberger, from Freiberg, Germany, swept the European dance charts with "9 PM - Til I Come". This single managed to go Silver within a week, Gold within a month, and Platinum within 2 months! ATB has had many single releases as well as album releases (the most current supposedly to have come out on January 28, 2002) with Kontor Records and the lable Ministry of Sound. ATB is well known not only for his great singles, 9 PM-Til I Come, Don't Stop, and Fields of Love, featuring York, but also for his remixes of other tunes. These remixes are not to be missed (i.e. It's a Fine Day, featuring Miss Jane), and can be found from your downloadable music source of choice...not that I'm advocating this, just passing along information.

Here is ATB posing with...some blue something, maybe Cookie Monster? at the DJ Meeting 2001

If you'd like to check out more on ATB, try this site. They have information in both Dutch and English for those of you who can speak more than one of this world's fine languages!

~DAFT PUNK~

This act is unlike anything else around. You will not find pictures of their faces anywhere! You will find only pictures of masks! These two, young, up and comming French boys, Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo and Thomas Bangalter, do NOT want their faces to be a basis for judgement of their music. They want their music to be the issue at hand. The boys met in 1987 at school in Paris and later started a short lived Indie Rock Band called Darlin' which was touted by rock weekly Melody Maker as "a bunch of daft punk". The rock band didn't make it very far, but this gave them a new stepping stone into the world of Electronica. They went on to sign on with Virgin records, but made it known that this was not an example of a "sell out", they still refused to show their faces in photographic media. They had a point to prove. They did not feel they were better than other people and did not want people idolizing them, just for their music and a pretty face. They have had many singles released in Europe and the States, including Da Funk and Around The World (from their debut album Homework), as well as tracks from their most recent album, Discovery. This was a break through as a series of videos has been made to go along with 4 songs off the most recent album so far, although we're hoping for a nice happy end to the series!! The four songs off the album are "One More Time", "Digital Love", "Harder, Faster, Better, Stronger", and "Aerodynamic", which have been set to a wonderful Japanese Animation style video. I'm loving this series and hope that these four installments are not the end. I want a happy ending! Apparently, there are two other Daft Punk videos out there, one for Da Funk, and another for Around the World (which features break danincing mummies and astronauts!). For more information on Daft Punk check out:

This is the list I've created of songs that I'm alllll about and think other people out there might get a little enjoyment out of. You are welcome to add suggestions to this list, and can do so either through the email link below, or the Chatterbox below that! Ja ne! ;)
