The office was dim and a single dirty window was the only source of light. It was decorated simply with lavender drapes that seemed to be as dirty as the window was. The old pine desk was cheaply varnished and had rings from wet objects, which were set upon it. The four chairs in the room were all hard back wooden chairs that looked as old as the desk. There were books in the oak shelves along with papers that showed disorganization in the worst way. A single Dell computer sat on the desk and had many sticky notes placed all over the surface of the monitor.
Among the mess stood three disheveled men. Neither their hair nor their clothes looked clean and it looked as if they hadnt slept in days. They all stared at each other for a few minutes in silence before sliding down into the chairs. After each of them got as comfortable as possible, they stared once again.
What are we going to do about her? The blonde doctor asked the two others that had been in Shiannes hospital room a few moments ago.
We knew she would react this way, Colin. The red-haired man replied, glancing over to the blonde.
Yeah, but we should have had a better plan. Andrew, you really over-reacted. This time the brown haired man spoke up, his glance shifting from Colin to the red head.
You shut your mouth, Richard! Andrew yelled, his face red with anger.
Richard simply shook his head as he crossed his arms against his chest. He knew that when Andrew got this way, it was impossible to talk to him. Colin smirked slightly at the tension but said nothing. The silent tension lasted about five minutes before Andrew started to laugh. It wasnt a friendly laugh but one that was filled with arrogance. Finally Colin spoke up and his tone was cold and business-like.
Regardless of what happened with Shianne, we need to figure out something. We cant keep her overly sedated all the time. We cant keep her restrained either. She has a voice and shes going to draw attention, unwanted attention to us. Not only that, we have that other problem.
Andrew snorted and rolled his eyes. Richards body tensed a little and silence again filled the room. None of the men had an idea and it showed on their faces. Colin huffed a little and leaned back in his chair, the old wood creaking and groaning. The lights flickered a couple of times and in the distance, you could hear the sounds of cars. Richard shook his head before rolling his shoulders around to ease the tension in them.
Why dont we just take out the threat and then the girl will have nothing. Andrews cruel voice broke into the silence like an unwanted sound in a serene place.
Both Colin and Richards eyes widened and a look crossed their faces as they thought about the possibility. Richard quickly shook his head no, but Colin grinned a little. Andrew smirked over at Colin who smirked back at him. The only one that didnt agree was Richard. Always the squeamish one, Richard never was one for violence, especially the bloody kind.
No way! This is nothing but insanity! You cant be seriously thinking about killing people; were not murders! Richards voice was high in tension.
Neither Colin nor Andrew said anything, but the look crossing their faces spoke volumes. Richard frowned and clenched his fists tightly. He knew he couldnt go against them but he couldnt help what he was feeling in his heart. Finally Richard gathered his courage and spoke.
Whatre youre suggesting Andrew is murder. We shouldnt have to sink that low.
Andrews face turned red with anger and if looks could kill, Richard would most definitely be dead. Even Colin was glaring at Richard in what had to be disgust. Richard knew he shouldnt go against the grain and after a few minutes of uncomfortable squirming, he gave up.
Fine, whats the procedure? I still think its a bad idea though.
Andrew smirked, glad that he had won the argument even though deep down he knew he would. Youre an idiot Richard.
Colin snickered under his breath and spread his hands across the desk he was sitting behind. He shifted a little and leaned forward. It was obvious that not even Colin knew what to do with the idea of murdering someone. After a few minutes went by, Colin finally shrugged.
Andrew, whats your angle on this subject? What exactly was your plan? Colins voice was calm and very business like as if he was discussing how to invest money into a local IRA.
Andrew shifted in his chair and leaned forward only to shift back against the chair once again. He cleared his throat and crossed his arms against his chest. Well... I dont have a plan, exactly... Youre the boss Colin, you do whatever you feel is best and I will follow it to a tee.
It was Richards turn to snicker under his breath, unable to help it. He quickly coughed in order to cover up cop-out.
Andrew turned to glare at Richard, his face growing red once again and instead of saying something, he clenched his jaw tightly. Richard knew only by the look on Andrews face that he wanted to beat the tar out of him but it only caused Richard more amusement. It was amusing to Richard because Andrew knew he was right. Andrew knew he should have had a plan worked out before he even mentioned it to Colin and since he didnt, he was left looking like a moron.
I see... Colins face suddenly became very unreadable and both Andrew and Richard tensed up.
Instead of bickering like moronic two-year-olds, I suggest you two work on the plan, together. Do not come back until its worked out. I want no mistakes. Its because of the mistakes that Alex and Tsutomu made that were in this predicament. NOW LEAVE! Colins voice rumbled around in the room, sending both Andrew and Richard practically running out of the room.
Once the two of them were outside the office, heading into another Andrew slammed Richard against the wall. If you ever make me look bad in front of the boss again, they wont be able to find your body parts! Now start thinking of an idea. I will call you in a half-hour.
Richard shook free from Andrew and walked into his office, slamming the door as Andrew smirked in satisfaction. Content that he had gotten through to Richard, Andrew stepped into his office where a female was waiting for him. The last thing that was heard as he closed the door was, mmm baby let me ease your tension for you. |
