Shianne opened her eyes slowly, her eyes extremely blurry and groggy. Her entire body was covered in a light bead of sweat. As her fingers outstretched across the bed, she found herself glancing around. She was no longer in her bed at home, but in a bed in some run down hospital room. For a few moments, her head swam as she tried to recall past events. The memories she had flashing in her mind were slowly fading away. Replacing these memories were many disturbing questions.
Had she really found her brother and sister? Did she defeat the bad guys to give her siblings and Christian the happy ever after they deserved? Where was Christian and why was she staying in a hospital room? The main question running through her mind was in regards to the past events. Were they all just fantasies or did they have a sense of truth to them?
Groaning slightly, Shianne felt her muscles in her stomach clenching up as she slowly sat up. Fearful that she would find her arms and legs confided, she dropped her gaze towards her arms. They werent strapped down and as she moved her eyes down towards her ankles, she felt relief washing over her due to the fact that they werent restrained either. As she looked herself over, she found a band-aid on the back of her hand from where she was hooked to an I.V. Her entire left arm was wrapped in gauze. The gauze started at the elbow and continued down until it wrapped around her wrist. Stopping only after it wrapped around the palm of her hand a few times.
What is going on... What happened to me? Shianne asked the silence of the room even though she knew it wouldnt answer her.
Leaning back against the pillows fluffed up on the bed, Shianne tried to piece things together. Every time she tried to recall what happened, her mind clouded over. It was as if someone or something wanted her to forget. The only clear memory she had was of when her mother and father were killed. Although she could recall everything that happened that night, she couldnt see what happened next.
She shifted her gaze from the bed over to the clock. It was 3:45 and from the light coming in the window, she could tell it was daytime. She widened her gaze to the window and stared out at the trees, watching the branches blowing in the wind. A soft gentle swishing sound moved her gaze from the window over towards the object that was the cause of the sound. Although it was the door that made the sound, her eyes focused on the men that had entered the room. They were wearing white lab coats and it didnt take Shianne long to realize they probably werent just doctors but something much more.
Shianne, you have finally awoken. Do you recall anything at all? Do you know what happened? Do you remember who you are? The tall blonde headed man spoke softly as he approached her cautiously as if he was afraid she would do something to him.
Shianne frowned as she again tried to piece the broken thoughts together in her mind. Finally, after a few minutes, Shianne shook her head no. As her hair fell over her face, she weakly reached up to push it back out of her eyes. The blonde man smiled sympathetically and patted her leg beneath the covers. Shianne wasnt telling the exact truth, but wanted to find out the motives of the lab agent before spilling what she thought had happened.
Tell me what happened. Why am I in here? Where are my parents and Breanna, and Trenton? Where is Christian? Maybe what they told her would give her clues about what happened that night.
The tall blonde looked at the other two men silently. Shianne tried to focus on their faces in hopes of figuring out what was going on. However, they were careful to keep their faces blank and unreadable. Finally the blonde cleared his throat and spoke carefully.
Well Shianne, you were brutally attacked and the trauma was so great you fell into a coma. Unfortunately, before you were attacked the men killed your entire family. This Christian you speak of as well as the other friends you thought you had were all illusions. Youre a thirteen-year-old girl since you spent your birthday while in a coma. Im so sorry that I had to tell you this but, it was necessary.
Shianne frowned and took in a deep breath. They had to be lying there was no way that she had been here that long. Christian wasnt an illusion and her brother and sister werent dead. She knew her mother and father were, but everything else was wrong! She could feel tears starting to form in the corners of her eyes and before she could stop it, the salty liquid slowly began to slide down her bruised cheeks. The blonde doctor leaned down towards her to comfort her. Shianne turned her head towards him and shook it. Instead of backing off, he continued to lean forward. Without even thinking about it, Shianne pushed him backward with a grunt. The three men looked at each other in surprise.
Youre lying to me!! Dont touch me! My brother and sister ARE alive. Christian and my other friends are NOT illusions. You are fake lying doctors!! Shianne was practically screaming at the men in pure anger.
The surprised faces widened even more and the blonde cleared his throat. They arm that was wrapped began to throb, causing Shianne to bite down on her bottom lip. The room became so silent you could hear a pin drop to the ground. Finally, Shianne glanced at the men with a determined look crossing her face.
I want to go home right now!
The blonde looked at the brunette who walked over to Shianne. He roughly pushed her down and held her still long enough for the third man, a red head to give her a tranquilizer shot in order to calm her down.
Youre not going home because you HAVE no home. Youre a orphan and youre going to stay here until we say you can go! The redheaded man practically spit out each word.
Frowning, Shianne tried to keep her eyes open. Letting out a soft whimper, she finally gave up and let the tranquilizer over power her will to fight. After glancing around with a angry look, Shianne dropped her head down against the pillow and fell asleep. |
