Music Boosters Minutes: September 8, 2008 Call to Order: 7:07 p.m. President Robert Wingo welcomed everyone and asked for all to sign in. Minutes: Minutes for August are available for anyone who needs them. A motion was made and seconded to accept minutes as presented. Treasurers Report: Cheryl Littlefield was not in attendance. Student Account Report: Heidi Dukes has the student account balances posted for all. Current balance is $28,279.00 including state fair parking and the Bar-B-Que. Acceptance of the treasurers report will be tabled until next month. Directors Report Band: Rob Barbarita reported a wet day for our 1st football game. He is considering rain coats for the marching band to wear over their uniforms. This will be funded through the district account. He is to meet with Mr. Yore this week to discuss this option. For any future rainy games, the band will stay under the bleachers when not performing the field show. University of Delaware band day forms were sent home during band camp. As of now, 51 have signed up and he is expecting approximately 30 more. Parents are welcome to attend. Lunch will also need to be arranged. Students can purchase food in the concession stand or can pack. Heidi and Darrell Dukes will haul the equipment trailer. The trip for this year has not yet been decided. Mr. Barbarita is looking at Florida or Texas, but will need to discuss with Gail Kelso. Darryll Dukes suggested a possible cruise as well. Mr. Barbarita is also considering a high school music festival for next year. He will contact other band directors that have organized such an event and get their input. He will also discuss with Mr. Yore. Bob Wingo stated that Sussex Central attempted this approximately 3 years ago but was not successful. Three sections were selected for the most improved end of band camp award: Rifles, Flags and Trumpets Heidi Dukes will check on movie ticket prices. Tara Bradley reminded everyone there was only to be 1 section selected and Mr. Barbarita indicated that the band budget can help pay for the extra expense. Upcoming parades are Returns Day on November 6th (times to be confirmed) and Sea Witch on October 25th. The buses will leave the school by 9:30 a.m. for the Sea Witch Parade. Our next football game is at home and students are expect to arrive by 6:00 p.m. Lisa Bales reported on uniforms for the flag and rifle teams. The cost for 36 female and 6 male uniforms will run an estimated $3300.00 which is in the budget. Choir: Gail Kelso was not in attendance but has indicated that the choir will be attending this years trip with the band. Presidents Report: Robert Wingo would like to extend a special thank you to Mr. Ron Simonson for the trailer ads. An additional $1300.00 has been secured. Old Business: BBQ - Chuck Gooding reports that all is scheduled for this Saturday. The chicken will be from Perdue; however final costs have not yet been determined. Chuck will talk with Bob in regards to picking up the grill. Heidi will purchase an additional pack of trays. Bob Wingo is also planning on refrigeration for the cole slaw, and potato salad. If electricity is unavailable, he will contact the school to see if a generator could be used. Chuck would also like to remind all that this will count as service hours for any students helping with the Bar-B-Que. Car Wash - PJ Hopkins and Krista Scudlark will be unable to run the car wash on this weekend. An adult is needed to supervise this event. Pizza Party - Marilyn Davis reported a successful pizza party at band camp. Donations of pizza were secured from Grottos and Miltonian. Drinks were donated from Lewes Dairy. Thank you letters have been sent. |
