September 08 Minutes (Continued)

Joe Corbis Fundraiser - Marilyn Davis and Tara Bradley reported that this fundraiser is beginning. The deadline is the 23rd, however late orders will be accepted until the order is called in on September 29th.  The estimated arrival date is October 9th at 3:00 p.m. and anyone who can assist with sorting would be appreciated. Pick-up time will be from 5-7 p.m. Due to some of the items being taken last year, we must be extra careful when sorting.

Service Hour Stars - Yvonne Lallier reported that Mary Simonson has ordered 30 stars for service hours. Bob Wingo also discussed creating a certificate to accompany the stars when presented to the students. For the students who earn the star, an announcement could be made when lining up the band prior to football games and an ad could also be submitted to the local papers.

Coast Day - Sunday, October 5th. Arrival time will be 8:30 a.m. and will leave approximately 5:00 p.m. at the University of Delaware Campus on Pilottown Road in Lewes. Students will earn service hours only for this event. Students are not required to work all day; however, we do need to have 20 at all times.

New Business:
Spaghetti Dinner - Bob Wingo has been working with Mr. VanHeest of the Pelican Grill in regards to scheduling a spaghetti dinner fundraiser. This event will be held on either on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday in November. Tickets will be sold in advance and will be on an hourly basis. This will also help control the crowd flow.

Fruit and Flowers Fundraisers - Christina Palmer noted that these fundraisers will begin on October 1st and will be due the week of October 27th. The flowers will have a tentative arrival date of December 2nd, 3rd or 4th and the fruit will have an expected delivery date of December 9th. Please keep in mind that these are 2 separate fundraisers and should be in separate envelopes. Be sure to put the students name in the memo section for all checks that are received. Christina and Kim would also like to see another chairperson volunteer to help with this fundraiser so they can train them in.

Volunteers - Bob Wingo would like to see additional parents get involved so any transitioning is easier. Darryll Dukes noted that he would like to see a 9th or 10th grade parent volunteer to help load and unload the trailer since his daughter will be graduating and an adult will be needed in the trailer during this process.

PJ Hopkins is updating the phone tree and additional volunteers will also be needed.

Marilyn Davis has the volunteer sign up sheets for all committees for anyone willing to volunteer.
