| CHHS Music Boosters Minutes September 12, 2005 President Robert Wingo brought the meeting to order at 7:00 and welcomed parents and students. Time was offered for any opening questions, none came from the floor. A motion for the minutes to be accepted as presented was made, seconded and approved. Treasurers Report Rama Peri read the Treasurers report. It did not include the recent funds taken in from Fridays football game clothing sales, nor the Saturday Car Show. Rama also presented an easily adaptable spreadsheet for use by fundraiser Chairpersons for the purpose of recording all monies received on any fundraising events. A copy of which is attached. Student Accounts Connie Holdridge read the Student Account Report. This did include the Joe Corbi Pizza fundraiser and the State Fair Parking fundraiser. Copies of the students accounts were posted within the meeting room for easy access and availability to review by all parents and students. A question was raised as to whether an older graduating student could transfer personal account funds to a younger sibling. Yes, however, parents need to contact the student account treasurer. Those funds not claimed however are put into the General Fund used by the Band and Choir as a whole. $740.00 was put back into the General Fund this past year from graduating seniors who did not have younger siblings. OLD BUSINESS Band Band Director, Barry Eli spoke on the bands first football game performance. He was very pleased with their performance. Darrell Dukes was able to videotape the performance and Mr. Eli has been able to play it back for the entire band for instruction purposes. The video proved to be a valuable asset. Mr. Eli also stated that due to the warm weather, players should wear their gray Cape Music shirts underneath their uniforms so that if they need to take off their jackets after their performance a bit of conformity still would exist. However, Jackets must be cared for or this practice will be stopped. Mr. Eli congratulated the Choirs performance of the Star Spangled Banner. The band performance at the game with Hodgson for September 24th has been cancelled. In addition the Smyrna game is scheduled for October 7th, which is a prescheduled in-service day for Staff in the Cape District, students have off. Mr. Ken Schleifer and Mr. Eli will take responsibility for getting the band to the game. Mr. Eli still has not received a final price on the bus cost for the scheduled spring trip to Florida. The estimated cost for each student however should be approximately $500.00. A final price for the Jor-Lin bus company should arrive in October. They did give us a preliminary price higher than they expect the final price to be. An estimate of 5 busses for the spring trip is being used at this time, it is still uncertain how many will be traveling. Choir The Choir Director, Gail Kelso reported that the Choir is still hoping to book performances throughout the community during the holiday season. A trip to New York is being discussed within the Choir and Theater Departments as a possibility for after the holidays. The students within Choir and Theater departments have expressed an interest in this trip. Ms. Kelso will continue to follow up.. At present there are approximately 43 members in the 10th 12th grade Choir, 46 in the 9th grade, and 25 in the Chorale. Ms. Kelso also presented a new idea for a fundraiser for Choir Gas cards. It was decided that if the Choir does this, it does not have to be incorporated with the rest of the Boosters fundraisers; it can just be kept as Choir funds. School approval would be needed however for any new fundraiser. It was also presented that we do not want to exclude any group or persons from the benefits of a great fundraiser. Phone Tree The Phone Tree director, P.J. Hopkins, reported the phone tree was activated the weekend of September 9th and 10th. All parents were to be called about the upcoming Football game, the Car Show and tonights meeting. Carol Moore asked if there was a follow up system in place for those parents who dont receive a call. P.J. and Mr. Eli will correspond at the end of this week with and revised and updated phone numbers for students and families. Hopefully no one will be missed. However, if anyone does not receive a call please contact Robert Wingo and it will be followed up. Band Pizza Party and Picnic It was reported by Marilyn Davis that the Pizza Party was a success. Marie Gardner and Julie Wilson were a tremendous support. In addition the band picnic was a success many positive comments were received. |
