Visual And Performing Arts Committee Mr. Bob Meade, President of the Cape Henlopen School Board advised Mr. Eli that this new committee was being formed and invited all parents to attend the first meeting to be held on Monday, September 19th, 7-9pm. This opening meeting will be for organizational purposes and all parents are welcome State Fair Parking Chairperson Carol Moore reported that a total of 88 students and 56 parents participated in this fundraiser. A total of 2,340 hours were worked and the band received a check for the amount of $12,450.00, which equals $5.32 per hour per volunteer (parent or student). Joe Corbi Pizza Chairperson, Adrienne Hanna reported that 345 pizzas� were sold and a total of $1,983 was raised. This equaled $5.75 per pizza sold. Car Wash Flag Director, Peggy Kirby who was the chairperson for the car wash held on September 10th in conjunction with the Car Show, reported that $283.00 was earned from the car wash. These funds will be put towards the Flag twirlers jackets. She also reported that Junior, Cory Johnston did volunteer for the entire day. Car Show Chairperson Connie Holdridge reported that the Car Show netted $769.00. There was a total of 26 cars registered. This money has been put into the General Fund. In addition, the chicken Bar-b-que was a great success with several student volunteers present. They were Ken Barnes, Colin Buchness, Doug McGirk, James Moore, and Bryan Wingo. The supervising parent volunteer was Don Leavel. All leftovers were donated to Casa San Francisco. Home DePot, Kings Creek, Epworth United Methodist Church, Mount Aire, Harbeson Deli, Rogers Signs, Robert Ames and John Miller for the musi,c and Darrell Dukes were all major contributors to this successful fundraiser. Budget A budget will be presented at the next meeting. A tentative budget has been drawn up by the board and may be posted on the Web site. Robert Wingo stated that there are still committees in need of Chairpersons. Service Star Committee A new committee has been formed for students who work for the General Fund fundraisers. The students who will be recognized are those who contribute volunteer hours and work for band related activities that do not directly benefit them. Football Chaperones Carol Moore volunteered to be the chairperson of this committee. Their will be a need to make calls to make sure enough assistance is available for the three remaining away games scheduled 10/7, 10/21, and 11/11. Scholarships Robert Wingo proposed a scholarship to every graduating senior for recognition ($25.00 per year) for every year they performed in the band or Choir. Some criteria are; they must be in either the band or choir their graduating year, and they must be going on to further their education. This will not take the place of the existing Richard Soukey Scholarships, but will be in addition to. A motion was put to the floor, seconded and passed. Trailer Repairs Darrell Dukes reported that work is in progress on the Band Trailer. New bearings and brakes in addition to having it reinspected are all part of this work. Football Games Heidi Dukes requested volunteers to help get the students out onto the field on time for all home games. Diane Tylecki, Stephanie Williams and Linda Rogers all volunteered. Future Meetings All future meetings will be held in the band room, not the Little Theater as stated in previous minutes. The next meeting is scheduled for October 10th at 7pm. Meeting was adjourned.
