Minutes October 8, 2007

Welcome:
Robert Wingo welcomed any new parents.  A reminder was given to everyone to sign in and pick up a meeting agenda.

The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm.  A motion was made to have thet September 2007 Minutes accepted, seconded, and approved.

Treasurers Report:
Christie Pierson reported that we presently have $2240.81 in the general fund and $4.72 in the rifle fund.  Bob gave a contribution of $.28 to the rifle fund for an even $5.00.  Christie is currently contacting Rama in regards to transferring of the other 2 accounts.  Two scholarships have also been paid from the general fund.

Student Accounts
Heidi Dukes reported $32,461.09 in our student accounts, which includes the Joe Corbi fundraiser and car wash.  Individual student account balances are posted in the band room at the high school and a copy will also be posted at the 9th grade campus.  Any new students will be added to the list.

Directors Report
Barry Eli extended a thank you to Dave Pierson for hauling the trailer.  The band will not attend the St. Marks game on Saturday.  They will also not attend games out of Kent or Sussex Counties due to expenses.

Renah Skudlark was our 1 representative who attended band day at the University of Delaware.  This will be an event to look at for the full band next year.

We are currently hoping that the football field is ready for the Homecoming game.  As of tonight, the contractor is approximately 1 week behind and the turf has not been delivered.

Cleveland Trip is currently scheduled for May 15th through 18th.  The approximate cost is $550 for students and $500 for chaperones.  This will include transportation, accommodations, 3 breakfasts, and 3 dinners.  Admission to Cedar Point Amusement Park, Rock and Rock Hall of Fame, Adjudication and the Awards Banquet are also included.  The first installment of $100 will be due October 29th to secure a spot.  Barry is working on the payment schedule and when you can drop if needed.  It is much easier to add a person than it is to remove them once the reservations are made.

Barry will not be at the PolyTech game for personal reasons.  However, Ken Schliefer will attend.  The band has been doing well and he expects their performances to continue.

Gail Kelso was unable to attend.

Presidents Report
Robert Wingo commented on how clean the band has left the stands after the last game.  This is also a reflection on the parents.  A thank you is also extended to Dave Pierson for hauling the trailer.

Old Business

Joe Corbis Fundraiser:
Carol Moore reported that the Joe Corbis fundraiser was successful.  There were 67 participants resulting in @ $12000.00 in sales.  The student profit was @$6.25 per pizza kit and $5.00 per cookie tub.  $4030.00 was deposited into the student accounts
Chicken Bar-B-Que:
Chuck Gooding reported $272.40 profit after expenses.  He was pleased with the amount of student participation.  Bob Wingo commented that other than the profit, the success also comes with spending time with the students and parents.
Darrell Dukes suggested looking into donations for the charcoal for next year and Chuck Gooding agreed to look into this option.
Car Wash:
P.J. Hopkins reported an income of $565.30 which is approximately $6.40 per hour for the children.  Don Leavel also thanked everyone for helping.
Phone Tree:
P.J. Hopkins called all parents over the weekend with reminders.  She has separated the phone list for volunteers to help with calls.  The phone tree will be activated for any fundraiser orders, meetings, cancellations, etc.  Barry Eli is continuing to look into the AlertNow System as an alternative.
