Music Boosters Minutes: November 10, 2008 Call to Order: 7:00 p.m. Welcome: President Robert Wingo welcomed everyone and asked for all to sign in. Minutes: Minutes for October are available for anyone who needs them. A motion was made and seconded to accept minutes as presented. Treasurer�s Report: Cheryl Littlefield reported a balance of $31,756.36 in the student accounts. This is the first time this year we are �in the black�. Student Account Report: Heidi Dukes has the student account balances posted for all. Current balance is $31,614.49. The first trip payment has not yet been taken out of this total. A motion was made and seconded to accept the treasurer�s report. Director�s Report Choir - Gail Kelso Gail Kelso was unable to attend, however, Nicole Nadig and Brittany Morris were in attendance to represent choir. State choir tryouts are upcoming and they were under the impression that the=2 0music boosters would be paying the entrance fee. As of this date, a formal request has not been received by the boosters. The girls will discuss this matter with Gail. Mr. Robert Wingo reported that the choir does plan on attending the spring trip with the band to Florida. Band - Rob Barbarita Trip Information - Mr. Barbarita has confirmed the trip to Orlando, Florida. Sign up forms are available for students and anyone interested in chaperoning this trip. The date will be April 30th through May 4th. The basic trip itinerary is complete. A video of past performances will be sent for adjudication to confirm the park in which we will play. The trip cost is expected to be $585 per student and $669 for chaperones. Fundraising ideas - Mr. Barbarita suggested a bake sale auction, possibly at the concert, sub sales, and a Rock-A-Thon as possible fundraisers. Cheryl Littlefield and Lisa Bales agreed to organize the bake sale auction for the night of the winter concert. Returns Day - Even though the weather was not cooperating, Returns Day was a success. Thank you to all who participated and helped make this day successful. A big thank you to WaWa for their generous donation for sandwiches. Darrell suggested a card signed by all the students and possibly a picture for them to hang in their business. Heidi prepared a thank you letter, also to be published in local newspapers. Parade Dates - Milton - Wednesday, December 3rd, Lewes - Saturday, December 6th, and Rehoboth - Monday, December 8th. The next parade will be Martin Luther King, Jr on January 17th. Veterans Day - Jazz Band will perform on the Rehoboth band stand @ 11:00 and should arrive approx. 10 a.m. to practice. Concert Date - Wednesday, December 10th - Students are to wear black pants or skirt and a white shirt. Phone Tree - Karen Flowers has started the e-mail notification to accompany the phone tree. Choir members will also be added to this list. President�s Report Upon conclusion of the football season, Robert Wingo would like to thank all of the parents for their participation and volunteering their time to the students and making sure the stands were clean. A special mention to Alan Bales for announcing, all the ladies who �plumed�, and to Darrell and Heidi Dukes for hauling the trailer. The half time show was interactive and just a great show. The performance was also done at the judges stand for the Sea Witch and Returns Day Parades. Karen Flowers has started an e-mail notification and hopefully this will help contact more parents. |
