Directors Report Jazz/Concert Band Mr. Eli reported that the a small Jazz Band will perform in Dover at the DSEA Human and Civil Rights Banquet at the Rollins Center on May 11th, from 5:30-6:30pm. The next and last time the Jazz Band will perform this year will be in the Milton Town Park on Wedenesday, May 31st at 7pm till dark. The Spring Concert is scheduled for May 21st at 3pm. Band Camp & Football Mr. Eli reported that the football game schedule has been released and that the games start with the first Friday night in September and will go for 10 weeks. We will not play at the Hodgson game. In addition, he has been informed by the Athletic Director, Mr. Glenn, that football practices will start one week earlier, which will conflict with band camp and the band picnic. It is doubtful that we can switch our schedule at this late date and will have to make the best of it. The first full night of band camp will be August 8th. Marching A parent did ask why 9th grade students marched 2 years ago, but will probably not march this year. Mr. Eli explained that during that year, we had block scheduling throughout the High School which allowed us to bus them over for practice with the other students. In addition, that year most 9th graders attended band camp and worked hard. The parent stated that the students seem discouraged that they have not been able to march in Middle School and now cannot march till 10th grade. Mr. Eli explained that he has approached the administration for different solutions to this problem, and none have come forth. Mr. Eli will continue to investigate. Cell Phones In Mr. Schleifers absence, Mr. Eli turned in $108.00, which brings our total to date from recycling cell phones and ink cartridges to approximately $800.00. During the summer while the school buildings are closed, The Verizon Store will continue to collect used phones for our cause. Choir Ms. Gail Kelso reported that she has been able to practice a wide variety of music for the upcoming May 23rd Concert at 7pm to be held in the Little Theater. Choir students are also practicing doing all the announcing for this concert. Gail has emailed Julie Wilson with the names and contact numbers for Senior recognition/pictures. In addition, a small, most probably all seniors Choral Group is practicing and preparing for Graduation. Presidents Report Photographer Robert Wingo did advise that we are looking for a photographer for both concerts. Mr. Dan Cook will not be available. |
