Minutes May 8, 2006 (continued)

Nominating Committee
All present Board Members when asked agreed they could serve again if no one else ran for their position.  No new nominees came forward during the meeting.  It was noted that in the by-laws on page 3 it states that candidates nominated must be parents of members of the band or chorus.  Two of our present officers, Mr. Diaz and Mrs. Holdridge are parents of Seniors.  The following amendment was presented in writing by Kim Wooding for a vote; I make a motion to amend the by laws to allow a parent or guardian of a past band or past chorus student to hold an office on the Music Boosters Board.  A motion was made to vote to accept the amendment, and passed with 2/3 majority.
Scholarship Committee
It was reported that scholarship forms will be available in the Guidance office on the morning of Friday, May 12th and they must be completed and turned back in no later than Wednesday, May 17th.  Both scholarships will be presented at the spring concert.
Spaghetti Dinner
The Lighthouse Restaurant will host a spaghetti dinner on May 17th from 5 to 8pm, for our benefit.  Mr. Eli will see how many students are available to help/bus/serve/clean up and also, if any are available from the Jazz band to perform.  Although he will be unavailable, perhaps Mr. Schleifer could conduct.  It was noted that this is also the same night for all Honor Society Inductions.  Robert will call Cindy Shea about advertising and will follow up with Paul Buchness about the price of tickets.  All tickets will be sold at the door.  Donations of dessert will be greatly appreciated.
State Fair Parking
Lisa Bales has agreed to co-chair this fundraiser with PJ Hopkins.
Relay for Life
Michael Holdridge reported that plans continue to move forward for this Friday, May 12th event.  He did ask for chaperones.  Presently, 12 students and 5 parents have volunteered.  All participants should raise at least $50.00.  Requests were made for food donations also. Food can be dropped off at Captains Cottage on Highway One, or by contacting the Holdridges at 227-8138.

New Business
Linda Rogers advised that she will be looking into the new Irish Eyes in Milton hosting us one night with a percentage of the profits going to the bands.
Connie Holdridge advised that two items are left over from the silent auction at the dance and it was suggested they be raffled off at the spring concerts.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:17pm.  Our next meeting will be June 12th at 7pm.
Minutes respectfully submitted by Joan Williamson.
