| CHHS MINUTES 2007-2008
Minutes July 9, 2007 The meeting was called to order at 7:02pm. A motion was made to have the minutes accepted, seconded, and approved. Welcome: Robert Wingo introduced the new and returning board members for the 2007-2008 school year. President: Robert Wingo Vice-President: Darrell Dukes Treasurer: Christie Pierson Student Accounts: Heidi Dukes Secretary: Yvonne Lallier Treasurers Report Christie Pierson reported that we presently have $7,234.21 in checking, $7,833.40 in money market, $4.73 in the rifle fund and $836.86 in the scholarship account for a total of $15,904.47. The car wash on June 16th brought in $350.55 for an average of $6.00/hour per student and the car wash on July 7th brought in $392.00 for an average of $5.85/hour per student. This money is not included in the current balances. Student Accounts Heidi Dukes reported $13,719.30 in our student accounts. This amount should be higher since there is $1,600.00 still owed from the band trip and the car wash money is not included. We will need to pursue collecting the remaining field trip money. Heidi also noted that all earned student money remains in the accounts and can not be refunded to the student. Any money in student accounts upon graduation can be transferred to another student with a parents signature. Directors Report Barry Eli was not available for report. Bob Wingo reported that the band camp schedule has been posted. P.J. Hopkins offered to obtain the water cooler from the high school and have it available for the students at camp. Gail was not available for report. Bob Wingo reported that the choir does plan on traveling with the band for this years spring trip which may be to Cleveland, OH. Presidents Report Robert Wingo reported the excitement and enthusiasm of beginning a new year. Some members will be lost and new members gained. As a group, we can build upon past successes and continue to work to the benefit of the band and choir students. Old Business State Fair Parking PJ Hopkins advised that sign-ups for the Delaware State Fair parking are updated daily. Parents are still needed for 7 shifts and students are still needed for 3rd shifts and the afternoon of Saturday, July 28th. As of now, there have been very few cancellations and only a few changes. Parking will take place rain or shine, and ponchos are available if needed. Food and drinks will be provided for the volunteers. Should you supply any items, make sure to give P.J. a receipt for reimbursement. Each child will also receive a free pass for each day they volunteer. Radios are also provided and ours will be separated from other organizations. All radios will be checked out and checked back in each day. Last year there were 3 radios missing and/or damaged at an approximate cost of $500.00 to replace. P.J. also noted that open toe shoes and sandals are forbidden and sun screen is highly recommended. There will be sun screen available in the trailer; however, due to allergies or preferences, students should bring their own. Darrell Dukes stated that State Fair Parking is a lot of fun for students and parents and encouraged everyone to volunteer as much as possible. Bob Wingo also stated earnings of approximately $6.00 per hour will go directly into the students account. Family and friends who volunteer will also have their pay deposited into the students account. For questions or to volunteer, please contact PJ Hopkins at 684-4455, or Lisa Bales at 644-9598. Chicken Bar-B-Que/Car Wash: A chicken bar-b-que and car wash are scheduled for August 4th at the Beacon Motel pavilion in Lewes from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cooking will begin around 7:30 a.m. and the chicken should be ready by noon. Boosters may want to purchase small bags of chips and pickles to provide as part of the meal. We are unable to sell drinks due to a town of Lewes ordinance. Approximately 7-8 volunteers are needed to assist with cooking and packaging food. P.J. Hopkins also mentioned a possible bake sale during the bar-b-que. She will contact parents to supply baked goods. |
