The Chronicles of the Vair.

This page is dedicated to my newest car.  A 1965 Corvair Corsa 2 dr sport coupe. Originally Turbo charged with a 164 cu in engine.

If I'm not mistaken (and I shouldn't be, you'd think), I'm the fourth owner of this car. Was owned first up until 1971 by the first owner, then was sold to a man who was going to restore it and drive it, but 30 years later after it being well-stored decided it was time to let it go. So in comes Dale Dewald in 2001, who was going to use the car as a rally car if my memory serves me right, and then it sat at his place for a couple of years.

In comes me. I became obsessed with Corvairs in less than an hour...read through Norman Witte's Legends of the Engine Compartment, and was just thoroughly amazed at the car. So I joined lists, joined the MN chapter of Corsa, and found Dale. He offered the car to me on VV, and I told him I was very interested. Especially for the price. So he sent me a bunch of detailed pictures, and we spent probably two weeks talking about the car and the legistics of getting it from Hancock, MI, to Grand Rapids, MN ( I thought it was hilarious that the only other state with a Grand Rapids was where this was coming from, and going to GR in MN)

So we made a deal, and the car was delievered to me by Dale. I was ecstatic, of course. We put the car and the extra 110 in the garage and I began work on it that day.

I am planning on restoring the original turbo engine, and have decided to keep the original color of the car. the only big change there will be an all black themed interior for a bit of a classier look.

So check out the pages and see where Kevin(my buddy who's parents graciously allowed me their garage for this restoration- not many parents would be cool enough to allow something like this) and I are on our quest for greatness!
