Apple Spice Bread
3/4 cup raisins
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup dry milk powder
2 medium eggs--slightly beaten
1/2 apple juice
5 tablespoons raisin liquid (from cooking raisins)
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon cloves
1/4 cup nuts--chopped fine
3/4 cup apple--peeled and chopped fine

In saucepan: combine raisins and water and simmer about 5 minutes. Drain into cup and set aside.

Cream butter and dry milk; add eggs, juice, raisin liquid and beat well. Mix together dry ingredients and beat into butter mixture.

Mix in raisins and apples. Pour into 2 small greased loaf pans and let set 20 minutes.

Bake at 350F for 25-35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean and bread is light brown.
Set on rack to cool.  Makes 24 slices. Serve warmed slices with apple butter.

Exchange (approx.) per slice: 1/2 bread, 1/3 fruit, 3/4 fat
