| I finally decided to buy some heads for my engine. I searched for awhile until I found a guy on the internet that was selling a set of World Product Sportsman2 heads. This Guy (Tim) lives in Conneticul, and was a really nice guy. But the heads had only been used for a couple months, and had some work done to them. So I bought them. I also bought some 1.52 ratio roller rocker arms from Tim too. Around this same time I purchased the works for converting non-power front drum brakes to Power disc brakes. This was a great deal and I also used-- Junk Yard Dog -- to find the parts. With all of these parts that I purchased, I knew that I was going to have to plan a project for installing all of the parts. So I did, I got my dad to let me park my car in his spot in the garage. ( THANKS DAD) That was an extreme help especially because it was cold most of the time, So when I was in the garage and it got cold I would just whip out the old Dual halogen 2000 Watt lite.( OH HELL YEAH) Well that would warm it right up. I started by taking off the passenger fender, Because the heater core that I had replaced earlier had started leaking again! So I trashed it, I had to remove the fender because I had to remove the A/C box. But once that was removed, I jacked the car up and began to remove the old drum brake crap. It was fairly simple but the grim from 25 years really sucked. I also replace the upper and lower ball joints, This turned out to be fairly easy with just a hammer. I got the front end put together in a couple of hours and the brakes were fairly simple too. The only pieces that I didnt have to complete the brake system was Proportioning Valve and New front brake lines. But as Ill tell you later I didnt completely install the brakes on the Nova correct. (OOPS) But the engine I had already disassembled it about 2 days before. (and would like to point out that I didnt spill a drop of Anit-freeze. But my transmission did leak alot!!(OPS) Because I had a 400 smallblock, I had to drill Steam holes into the heads This wasnt to hard to drill, even though I broke 5 or 6 drill bits. But with the heads drilled I installed them on the block and then set in the rockers and assembled the engine again. The whole thing only took me about week or two. The Nova Ran extremely good. And I parked it back in the street. |
