The Chaplin Fight

My schooling was done in two schools.From my nursery to the seventh grade I was in Sri Aurobindo Memorial School, Banashankari 3rd Stage, Bangalore.This was the best time in my life as I enjoyed each and every minute of it.The teachers were friends and are in touch even now.I felt completely at home in school as literally I grew up there.I was a favourite of all the teachers and I enjoyed it to the core.

This incident happened when I was in the fifth grade.In our school each class was divided into two sections 'A' and 'B'.I think we were all very much influnced by movies in those days and there was great rivalry between us.We often used to indulge in quarrels and petty fights.But that day we enacted a fight from any of Chaplin's movies in a more serious way.

It was lunch break and all of us were having our lunch.We used to sit outside our classes and the 'B' section boys were right beside us.We used to feed the crows that came there with pieces of roti or chapati.Maybe the 'B' boys wanted to do the same and threw a piece of chapati.It fell on one of us.We naturally didn't like it and replied back.Thus the food missiles started to be launched from both sides.

Somebody had a brainstorm that softer missiles like curd rice would cause greater harm.So the experiment started and was a grand success.The person who used it liked it and the victim definitely didn't.He liked the idea though and started his own campaign of soft missiles.This really must have looked like the fight not to be missed for the onlookers.

The break time nearing it's end, the whole place was a mess and so were we.This must have been the busiest time in our school toilet and the washing process started.The lunch place though was to be cleaned by the maids who had done complete justice to their jobs.They didn't do justice to us and complained to our class teacher.

The punishment was too stern.The warriors had to stand the whole of the next class.I think the class teacher over reacted while deciding how to honour the warriors who fought for their classmates and their wellbeing.Well the fun and excitement we had during the battle compensated for the punishment or is it the other way round?
