I was asked by Chris Rockhold ro make a couple of dolls based off of his characters Gnat and Remy.
The head for the Gnat doll was sold out, but Remy is complete.
Gnat's body has also been blushed and I am simply awaiting the head.

I was NOT commisioned to make clothes or costumes for these dolls, just to paint their faces and give them bad haircuts.
Remy
First off, this is the reference photo Chris sent me.

I had quite a bit of difficulty transfering this face to the A type Volks head, as the shape is very different from the picture he drew.

I also had some trouble with the hair...which I will get to later.
The first thing I did was blush both of the bodies. At this time I was waiting for the reference photo for Remy, and really didn't have much else to do, as I have lost my rooting needle. ( I have a couple of other projects I'd like to work on, but need a rooting needle. )

Remy's body is an EB Beauty B, and Gnat's is the headless New EB D.

The differences in the two styles (Regular EB versus EB Beauty) are really striking.

The EB Beauty looks very nice bude, but lacks a considerable amount of poseability.

The New EB is very poseable, but doesn't look as nice unclothed.

Dressed, the differences are almost invisible

Remy will be wearing a skirt suit, so the EB Beauty knees are best suited to her. However Gnat is supposed to be showing her midriff, and Chris is dissatisfied with the way the waist looks on the EB D.
Here you can see the difference in the backsides.

The EB Beauty has an unbroken backside and the EB D has screw holes.

There ARE plugs for the screw holes, that require installation, cutting and sanding. I was comissioned only to paint and style hair.

My compensation for this two-doll project is an EB D body, default blank heads from all bodies and a Volks Dollfie catalog.

The bodies have been given a coating of Mr. Super Clear, then blushed with soft pastels, and coated again with Mr. Super Clear.
I had, at one point, been able to sucessfully create the lift in the back of her hair as requested.

Sadly it's all gone now.

I'm going to have to redo it, and add some pomade or some hair glue to hold it in place.

I kind of liked her with the super long hair, but that's always the way I've been.
This was the rough, practice faceup following Chris's design (at 4am......).

She DOES have light pink lips, but they don't show very well (as requested).

You can see there was a bit of lift left in her hair at this point. It didn't last another day...

Her head also shifted when I was cutting her hair, so it is ragged and shorter than expected.

I warned him that I'm terrible at cutting hair.
Here is the redone and completed Remy. Her hair has fallen flat, but the faceup is much better.

You can also see her dark green nail polish in this photo, and the boots I will be customizing for her later.
