Hi. Im Cheryl -
Welcome to my
website. Heres some background
info on me.
I was born in Washington D.C. on
October 25, 1972 and lived in Maryland for
twenty-five years. In fact, I represented
Maryland in the Cherry Blossom Festival almost 10
years ago. It was a treat to ride in the old
Thunderbirds in the annual parade through
Washington D.C. and to have my picture taken with
the little kids from Maryland as Miss Maryland Cherry Blossom Princess, 1995.
I went to the University of Maryland
and graduated at age 21 with a Bachelor of Arts in
Journalism with an emphasis in Broadcasting. I
wrote for the college paper and hosted a tv show.
My first job out of college was at CNN
in Washington D.C. after 8 months of interning
both in Atlanta and D.C. My father had a fit that
I worked for free for that long- he was so ready
for me to be out of the house. While at CNN, I
especially enjoyed field producing and conducting
off-air interviews when given the opportunity. I
also co-hosted a newsmagazine show in Fairfax, VA
called New Vision Newsmagazine. We focused on
people doing exciting and positive things in the
community.
After two years of rigorous routine, I
decided to venture to the west coast for new
adventures and opportunities. My friend, Erica,
now a lawyer in New York City, had relatives in
California- specifically in Malibu where I lived
for almost two years. I stayed with Aunt Lilly at
the Paradise Cove and went for long walks along
the Malibu Riviera. My Aunt Barbara and her
daughter Toni Lynn and grandson Michael were the
only relatives who got to visit me there. Several
friends also from the D.C. area visited me at
Paradise Cove including Maureen, Kelly, Katherine,
Sharon, and Barbara. I became quite the tour
guide.
While in D.C. I had started to work on
the movies that came to town. I worked on Forces
of Nature starring Ben Affleck as a traveler in
the airport. It was filmed at Dulles Airport. It
was just the beginning of getting to see the back
of my head on film. It was more popular than the
front of me. I continued to work on TV shows and
movies in California, since there was so much
more. I worked on Friends ( Joeys
Porsche episode), Melrose Place, VIP,
Pacific Blue, and the West Wing.
I also worked on the movie Beautiful with
Minnie Driver where I got my SAG card for being a
stand-in. I joined AFTRA to work on Soap Operas
since I was told repeatedly that I had a soapy
look. I worked on the wedding and party scene for
Port Charles for a few days. It was kind of funny
because I had been watching Port Charles for
several months and was very familiar with the
characters and story line. I felt like I was
genuinely a guest at the wedding.
Ericas cousin Cricket worked at Fox
11 News in LA and after about eight months I got a
job as a production assistant there.
During my second year at Fox, I took a class
through UCLA extension and got a chance to put
together an audition reel. Ive been shopping it
around town and around the country both to land a
job as a reporter at a small station in the
Palmdale, Lancaster area. Ive also worked at
Warner Bros., Castlerock Entertainment, Discovery
Channel and Capitol Records as a temporary
employee.
Im also a contributing writer for
several small publications including the Santa
Clarita Sun. My agent, Leigh Castle of Castle
Hill Enterprises continues to send me on auditions
for hosting jobs and commercials. Im thankful
for the opportunities and people Ive met in Los
Angeles.
Have a blessed day and enjoy the
website. Please sign the
guest book.
Love, Cheryl
