| 12/10/03 - Caitlin had another checkup yesterday and everything was fine. Her ANC is 3200+, she's 46-1/2" tall and weighs 50lbs. She's doing real well in school and is doing competitive dance this year, which is keeping us pretty busy. She's now in the long term care program at Children's Hospital, which is now geared toward educating us on the long term affects of chemotherapy and the signs to look out for. Hopefully we won't encounter anything out of the ordinary. That's all for now. Hope everybody has a wonderful holiday and a happy New Year. |
| 02/04/04 - Caitlin had another checkup this week and everything was great. Her ANC is 3687, she weighs 49lbs and is 3'-11" tall. She is now in the long term care program since she has now been off treatment for over 2 years. The program is designed to help us identify any possible long term side effects related to certain types of chemotherapy that received. The hope is that she will not develop any side effects, but if she does, we should be able to identify them early and get her the appropriate help that she needs. It's exciting and scary all at the same time. They actually told us that she is now considered a cancer survivor and not a cancer patient. That makes us very happy, but we're still very cautious in our enthusiasm as we can't seem to let go of the fear of a relapse. I'm sure that this is something that will get better with time. That's all for now. I'll update again in 4 months after her next checkup. |
