Captains Abstract
After winning the toss we elected to bowl first on what looked to be a
tough track to bat on. However, our bowlers failed to make any real in-roads
until later in the session when we managed to claw back the day by taking nine
wickets for 90 runs. Chris White taking 3-37, Simon Jones taking 2-43, Nick
Marjason 2-28 and Jon Lomas 2-24. Emperors finished there first innings at
186.
Unfortunately our batting lineup also failed to fire with only one batsman
making double figures, Chris White (33) in the total of 66. Hugh Wilson being
unable to continue after he was struck by a rising ball, requiring four
stitches to the eye lid.
The second day saw us being sent back in. This time however the batting line
up put up a better fight with opener Peter Shaw (33) and Chris White (44)
showing the way in the total of 143. Making Emperors bat again but only requiring
24.
Emperors had no trouble gaining the required runs winning the game by nine wickets.
