Captains Abstract
The fourth fixture saw us pitted against competition heavy-weights Burpengary.
After winning the toss we elected to bat on a fine, sunny day. Things started off
shakey when we lost Simon Jones for only one with the score at 15. Peter Shaw (20)
provided some resistence while Rob Hussey (56) at the other end recorded a strong
performance to take his batting average at this ground to 139. The other batsman of
note was Hugh Wilson (28) who put on a 71 run partnership with Rob Hussey to guide
us into a competitive position.
We struggled early in the field, with two very close decisions being turned down by
the umpire. Unfortunately we did not claim our first wicket until the score was at
95 Kris Wilson (2-30) making the break through. Although no bowler really struggled
and late wickets did fall it was all too late and Burpengary blasted away to a five
wicket win.
