Captains Abstract
The third game of the season saw us taking on the top team of the competition,
thus far. After winning the toss, we elected to bat. A move which look the wrong
one when we lost the first three batsman; Pete Shaw (9), Rob Hussey (0), Simon
Jones (7), and slumped to 3-24. With the fall of Hugh Wilson (5) and Andrew Bennett
(0), soon after we looked in trouble at 5-55. It was at this time that Chris White
(56) and Sam Martin (25) took up the challenge to resurect the innings managing a
61 run partnership to take the score to 116 before Sam fell. In the end we managed
a defendable target of 129.
Things started off well in our bowling, with Strathpine stumbling to 3-33. Their
innings never really got going, with wickets falling at consistent points. The
real standouts in the bowling being Simon Jones (4-15) and Kris Wilson (3-13),
being well supported by their fellow bowlers. In the end Strathpine could only
manage 101, falling short by 28 runs.
