Captains Abstract
Today proved once again to be disapointing. For the initial mistake I am to blame
after winning the toss I elected to bowl first on a pitch that was cracked and
green. This proved detrimental later on the as the pitch became harder to bat on.
Taking the field we had early success with me (2-21) and Kempy (3-38) both claiming
early wickets. Things became a little more difficult from then on. With an extremely
small boundary on one side, and many catches falling just short of batsman, things
were difficult. The task became even harder as the team again showed some pretty
ordinary fielding, which like the week before, allowed key oppsition batsman to do
the damage.
Our batting started shakely with me and Pete both falling to first ball ducks. Things
continues this way throughout the innings, with the exception of Hugh and Kris Wilson's
superb innings's of 32 and 31 respectively, and good support from Robbie (10) and Sam (9).
In the end however things proved difficult on a quickly deteriorating pitch and we fell
short by 106 runs.
