Captains Abstract
This week saw a mixed performance by the team. Losing the toss we were sent into bat. Things
looked steady early with me and Rob Hussey and I able to open up with 24, however when Rob
was ajudged LBW on 6 we quickly fell to 5-34. A couple of nice little innings from Robbie
Calcutt (10) and Jon Lomas (13*) saw a couple of nice partnerships form with bid hitter Drew
Corby, who again posted a large score (34) of half the number of deliveries.
The bowling performance today was good, however the intensity in the field probably cost us
at times. In the end Shaun McCoy was the pick of the bowlers, once again snagging a five wicket
haul (5-37), and myself chipping in with 3-43.
At the close of play Caribbean Hospitals were 9-160, a first innings lead of 61.
Caribbean Hospitals were dismissed for 162, a lead of 63. However once again the top order failed
to capitalize and we collapsed to 5-54, before Drew Corby once again put in a great effort to
make 49, well suported by Sam Martin and a supporting role of Robbie Calcutt. This saw the side
take a lead of 53.
Although we bowled well, we failed to make any inroads and were defeated outright by the Caribbean
Hospitals side.
