Captains Abstract
After loosing the toss we were sent in to bat on a wicket that for much of the
week had been submerged from rain. As expected the pitch proved to favour the
bowlers with 17 wickets falling in the day, none of our batsman really looking
set, which was compunded by an injury to Robert Hussey (14*), which has him in
doubt for several weeks to come. In the end we were dismissed for the fairly
small total of 84.
Things started to look good for us in the bowling with all of the bowlers, bowling
tight. Chris White (3-29) bowling his ten over spell straight through, and Kris
Wilson (2-14) coming in late in the day to bowl a seven over spell that almost saw
us claim 1st innings points, unfortunately we were unable to do so and the day
ended with Matter Hill leading by 14 runs.
Unfortunately rain during the week did not allow the game to complete itself on the
second and final day, the game ending in a draw, with first innings points taken by
Matter Hill.
A sad end to the season, leaving a couple of weeks for the boys to relax before the
start of the winter competition.
