
The only city in Australasia with electric buses is Wellington the capital of New Zealand. At home in the down town core, this picture was taken from a crosswalk.

Lyall Bay is one of New Zealand's surfing beaches but as the tide was out and the ocean still, not today. It is as far as the trolleybuses go, and two buses wait to return to the city. A group of trolleybuses is called a "silence" according to Ian Allen, the English publishers.

This tunnel enables several routes to avoid a long hill south of the city. Wellington is built on a group of steep hills, with several tunnels and zero emissions enables a much smaller tunnel than would otherwise be needed. This was a very sunny winter day, but the base of Mount Victoria was still gloomy and dark.
